Aftermarket engine controller on late model truck ?

Default Aftermarket engine controller on late model truck ?

Really showing my ignorance here. Im narrowing down my possible truck turbo build choices and i think ive settled on a 2013 silverado standard cab/regular bed 4x4 5.3/6l80e with the electronic transfer case that has an awd setting that only sends power to the front wheels when the back starts spinning. Im figuring mainly a street truck with a slight drop .
My thoughts are to use an aftermarket engine controller like one of the holley systems or maybe even the fitech . My question is, what issues am i likely to run into intergrating the aftermarket system without messing up the factory computer running the other electronics on the truck ? Id like to get away from maf and be able to use a self learning system for engine management.

You might be able to Piggyback a Holley Terminator X to the stock computer so you don't lose any functionality at all in the truck.

Someone will still need to tune the factory transmission controller afterwards.

Thanks for the quick response . I wouldnt have an issue with gettng the trans tuned . That would likely be a one time deal . The engine tuning with the factory computer is a can of worms id just as soon not deal with though. I even thought about swapping the ls3 out of my 72 camaro into the truck so i wont have the afm and dod crap to fight . Its running great with a vsracing s480 clone . Then find an l33 for the camaro . This damn divorce has me in a position where i need my daily and hotrod to be one in the same, so the camaro will have to go anyway.

So why not just use the OEM ECM and tune that?

look at matt happel's new truck. terminator x for engine and trans control, factory ecm talks to the bcm and everything on the dash works

His truck have an 80e? The Terminator won't control a 6L80e like the OP has.

he does have the 4l80e, but the principle would be the same. split the signals off that the holley needs. let the e38 tell eveything else whats going on. the t42/t43 can essentially work as a stand alone.

also a quick google tells me there are stand alone 6l80/90 controllers out.

i think cesar aka subeone has done a couple of these side by side installs on the '13+ trucks. look up horsepower factory in houston.
