Default Connecting rods

Got a question for you boosted gents. I was wondering if compstar connecting rods would be reliable for a low boost, low rpm build. I'm looking at about 1k hp, but I am only looking at about 10Lbs and 6500rpm. I'm hoping cam selection will allow 1k hp with that rpm and boost level on 438 ci. So, that being said , will those budget rods be reliable if my max rpm is 6500 ? Thanks.

stock rods would be, so i wouldnt worry about compstars at all.

I hope they will work because that is what I have in mine and I am running more boost than you plan.

I have them in my new motor. I plan to run ~35-40psi and rev to 8,000rpm.

You'll be fine for your power goals and never skimp when it comes to connecting rods. Compstar rods asre rated to 900hp and they've been beyond but I think I read somewhere on this forum where a guy bent one at 1300hp..

It's the last rod I'd use in a low RPM/high tq application

Tiny little things with no room for cushion

If on a budget atleast get the Molnar power adder

Thanks for the input. For some reason. Summit has them listed at 650hp limit. Maybe a typo ?

what ive seen is hp rating for the overseas rods depends on rod bolts. 8740 bolts usually 650 to 750hp. 2000 rod bolts usually 1200hp and l19 rod bolts 1500hp. The rod is the same in each application just rod bolt difference.

Look at the weight and beam and you will see how light duty they are.

The rod bolt gets beat on with a tension load... That load trying to rip the rod off the crank as the piston nears TDC, especially on the exhaust stroke... A product of rpm

We carry alot more residual cylinder pressure to oppose this compare to anything else

The compressive load from TQ is the rod killer for these

That is a ~618g rod

Take a gen 4 rod ~645

Molnar power adder, Callie's ultra I and h, 650-670

Molnar power adder plus, Callie's enforcer, Oliver speedway are all over 700g
