Good news. The new 408 short block has been shipped and should be here late this week or early next week. Pictures to follow. I have almost everything to put this poor car back together so hopefully it will go together reasonably quick.

Honestly, if you have to worry about either then she clearly isn't wife material lol.

It has arrived and I think she's beautiful.

Thanks to AMS Racing for getting this out ahead of schedule.

lol no. I ended up chucking it. While I am not a full on neat freak I don't like feeling like a junk collector or a hoarder either. Starting to get a lot of crap laying around the house.

Jimbo, they are Mahle Powerpack. Forged of course with Mahles matching ring set. 20cc dish. We're looking at 9.4 to 9.5:1 compression hopefully.

Almost got it ready to install back into the car. Fell short of getting the balancer installed due to a technical difficulty of a severe variety lol. Will have to call Innovators West on Monday morning.

It's probably a blessing as it supposed to be 95 degrees plus most of next week.

Had fun getting the stock windage tray and pickup tube setup configured with the 4 inch stroke crank. It's easier than some make it out to be. Turned out well.

That just looks muscular. But maybe put some Crime Scene Tape around the pieces-parts under the car. Seeing that would give me PTSD.
Curious....
I assume that the OP Sender is just a place holder at this point? And.. Is there a reason you stayed with the BatWing Pan? I know that some have swapped it for a different one. Why do you have a non vented valley cover - on a boosted engine - vs the one with a tube? I have SOOO much to learn.
In central PA is is also 'Hotter than the Hinges of Hell' as well - tomorrow is to be a record breaker - 96, Heat Index well over 103! That's F'n HOT!
I'm gonna start chasing a Vac leak on my project. - still can't get it to fire. I have a BIG HF fan in my garage - to blow HOT air on me while I sweat.
I feel ya.

That oil pressure sensor is original to the car and it works and it doesn't leak. I can just about guarantee that a new one even in an AC Delco box is made in China.

Many have switched to the LS2 pan from C6 but many of the many that did report back of oil starvation problems when launching the car. The batwing pan does a pretty good job at controlling the oil. and it was free to help get the car back up and running quicker and most importantly help with the budget. This project like so many has gone way over budget and I don't make a lot of money anymore so every little bit helps.

Funny I actually removed my CTS-V PCV valley cover in favor of the old school dumb as a brick valley cover on purpose. I am running the race version of the Mighty Mouse catch can breather setups and with that version you do not do anything with the valley cover and it gets capped off. No reason to put that fancy valley cover back on the car just to cap it off.

perfect. Are you going to do a blower pulley swap since the CI increase to maintain the boost level?

No I don't think so. If anything the pulleys will remain the same and if the boost decreases a bit I'm ok with that. Boost may remain close though as I took out a cam with like 5 degrees of overlap and am now going to be running a cam with -2 degrees over overlap.

Currently running an 8.5" crank pulley and 2.45" blower pulley.

You'll probably notice a gain in boost from that alone. I ran the stage 1 Summit Cam (Ghost Cam) that had negative overlap and it worked really well in my 6.2. I was seeing around 10-11 psi with my 8" crank and 2.55" upper.

Thanks for the info ryeguy. I am now going to be running the Summit Ghost cam as well. Also I was off on the balancer size. the 10% Innovators West is 8 1/8th diameter with a 2.45 upper.

Shortblock is ready to go back in the car tomorrow morning.

Sitting here waiting on my UPS guy for some shorter pushrods.

This thing is probably only a couple hours away from running.

It looks so purdy almost whole again.

So much nicer of an installation without the adapter plates under the blower.

Super weird to see what the rotors in the blower look like new with all their coating on them.
