Default Boost new guy map sensor question

How do you confirm or test your map sensor is set up correctly? I purchased the cobalt 2 bar sensor for an lsa swap. Gm # 12615136.
I am running a terminator x max and set the scale to the Holley 2 bar. Car is using 450lbs per hour and it says 7 psi at 6400 rpm.

just wondering if there was a way to confirm map sensor calibration.

There is a version of a MightyVac that does both vacuum and pressure goes up to 30 psi and has an accurate gauge.
Key on, engine off, you can put 15 psi on the sensor and check what the Holley data says.

Its a handy tool for checking boost referenced fuel pressure regulators, waste gates and BOV’s as well.

Another test is to see what it reads key on engine off and the sensor open to air. Should read approx 100 kpa (14.7psi) plus or minus depending on your elevation.

Make sure do get the version that does positive pressure, and 60psi. There are some that only do 30psi or less which is a little less versatile.

If you have shop air, regulate it down, use a blow gun with a small vacuum hose zip tied to the blow gun, and the map, and check the values. Should be really close.

Maybe try setting up a Custom 2 bar MAP sensor and manually inputing the calibration curve. I'm not sure of exact values but it's going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of,

0V = 8 kPA
5V = 200 kPA

Baro and MAP pressure readings should be on top of each other with key on (before start up). If not, then your MAP calibration isn't passing the laugh test.

Also, you can download HP Tuner for free and it will probably show the sensor calibration if you can find a stock file to download from a vehicle that used that sensor. That's the way I have unlocked a few mysteries.

Not all automotive sensors are linear in the 0-5v range.

Many operate linear in the 0.5 to 4.5v range

But testing is so easy, it is the safest option. Calibrate things correctly, not by guessing.
