In a word... No. lol

My buddy Kevin was there with his brother's NA 3rd gen (black paint), and they made 3 hits in the car, has a Tommy Martino pro stock style engine in it. They were making the first hits in the car, first was a 200 foot pass to make sure everything was working right, second one they went farther out and third they ran the 1/4. But even with making shock changes it was becoming clear they probably have to add weight to the front end.

275 Pro Radial

I think I’m gonna try the Pro Bracket Radial, as these tires are 6 years old.

I’d consider a slick, but then I’d need new wheels, as I do not have bead locks on these wheels…

It’s only money, right?

275 PBRs here, ran a 7.75 in my C6Z and a 7.43 in a C7Z on stock style rear suspension. A 4 link setup should have no problem with any tire.

I'd dial the car in on those Pros as long as they aren't dry rotted.

Car looks awesome in the pic, my buddies loved your car at Cecil.

Yeh, I’m not buying tires yet.

9/14-15 at Cecil County. There is some sort of event going on the 15th. 1/8th mile N/T NoPrep. Not sure I’m a fan of no prep, but I’m going to see how it is.

Well you can always leave soft and just figure stuff out. My first track pass in the car we had the tune more conservative than what I had on the street... 10.2. Went 9.3 on the 4th hit.

Are you going to the track solo or having a buddy or two watch the car (and film?)

Yeh. I’m working with my tuner. Planning on 9/14 to make a few hits and see what happens.

I’ll keep you updated.

With only just one pass that day, I was not comfortable entering any class at YBNats…

In hindsight, that was a Big mistake. I need seat time. I was off work those days… I'm disappointed I didn’t enter and test. My tuner was there. I could have gotten valuable information and data.

so, I went as a spectator on Friday.

I’m planning on going to Cecil County on 9/14 to make some passes and maybe run the event on 9/15.

Nice to hear Scottie has some other events/testing days.

Still working on the car when I have time.
Today, worked on the cooling system. It runs really hot. I have the radiator in the back. Had a Meziere pump up front. Now I have a Davis Craig pump screwed right onto the radiator. It’s an Afco 2 pass race radiator. With 2 8” fans mounted to a nice shroud. 16AN hose for the entire system. Still seems to run hot, so I likely still have some air in the system.

Also, did a few other electrical odds and ends. For some reason, my brand new 16v alternator quit working. On the dyno, I was throwing the belt, so I rigged up a new mount for it. While doing so, I dropped it about 12-18” onto the floor. So, not far. I can’t imagine that could have broken it, but it doesn’t work now, so it must have.
damn…

I’m planning to give it another go at Cecil County Saturday 9/14.

Perhaps there's a local alternator rebuilder who can fix it?

Can you drive and idle the car anywhere by you?

Yeh, I do have an alternator specialty shop near me. I’ll give them a call. Thanks for the idea…

I do have a place to drive the car around.

Regardless of my alternator situation, I’m going to Cecil County on Saturday.

How do you burp a rear mounted radiator car?

Good luck this weekend Pete!

MY rear mounted radiator setup was a little finnicky but I finally got it to work right after burping it a few times. Would keep the car around 160 degrees at idle and highway cruising would be in the 180s. I just used a single davies craig off the radiator as well.

Good to know. Did you have a thermostat in the system anywhere?

Since you don't have a heater core Pete wouldn't think you'd need a thermostat.

I have my radiator up front and what I did to burp mine was jack the car up as high as my jack would allow and left it like that overnight. I have an Amazon adaptable funnel I twisted onto the filler spot and then left ~2 pints in the funnel.

I’m just wondering that without a thermostat, there would be no restriction and perhaps the water is moving too fast to adequately cool?

I haven’t run it much since my last go around with burping. Hopefully, I finally got it.
