155,000 miles, i have a melings pump and my oil pressure has never been in the 20's, 40 was the lowest it ever got down to normally. It was even going slightly lower then 20 when I would stop at the red light, and when I drained the oil I could see the oil sparkling, almost like when you get fiberglass everywhere so that's what made me cut the oil filter open.

Will be interesting to see where that metal came from. Just for info my never apart lq4 , it's an 04 from a van has hot idle oil pressure of 35 @ 700 rpm with a mechanical gauge - a few lbs higher with 15w40 vs 5w30

my plan was to put 15w40 in it, i actually have the oil ready. I was hoping that would be the case but i didnt waist my time once i seen the shavings. Tomorrow im going to borrow a lift from my tuner and hopefully get it out tomorrow and ill pull the pan once i do that amd see what i can find. He has gen 4 rods & pistons sitting on the shelf in his shop and has at least 5 stock gm cranks sitting there too so hopefully the only thing I have to buy is the arp rod bolts and all the gaskets, seals, and potentially timing chain since I'll already have it on the stand.

I like to learn from these small setbacks. Please share pics of the bearings (main, rod) when you have it apart.

Also I'm sure your circle would tell you this but you have to clean the block out really well of shavings and junk when you get to putting it back together.

I'm a big fan of the Summit Ghost cam, aka stage 1 turbo cam. It might be milder than you want, but it sure has amazing manners.

I would call Tick or BTR and speak to someone about your combo and goals, which you obviously defined in this thread.

I have the same truck but 4wd with a 400 inch motor 3200 stall and T6 S400. BTR recommended their stage 3 for that combo and it’s pretty similar to the tick one you listed above. It’s responsive and runs hard. Will make a few pounds on footbrake with no 2 step.

Andrew
My rpm are falling off after 6400 rpm and i looked at the dyno sheet on btr site for the cam i have and it does the same exact thing and im looking to get around 7200rpm out of it.

I called tick and that's the cam they suggested and my tuner said he has used the btr cam alot of times with good results so that's why im debating the two. Leaning more towards the tick cam.

I’ve never really zinged mine before. It has a TBSS intake so I’ve got it shutting down at 6500 rpm. I don’t think any of it has any issue going higher, just think I’m out of turbo and intake by then so no reason to take it higher…I’ll be curious to see how either cam performs out past 7k in your application.

and im not sure that it will resolve the problem but I can understand why it would as it's a truck cam and not meant to rev that high and the dyno graph from btr looks exactly like mine. This is the dyno graph from btr. Look at it and look at mine.

Mm... thinking out loud here , you have a short runner intake ( shorter than stock truck ) so more cam would probably optimize that . Iirc 3.50 gears , what size tire OD ? I'm 3.73 and 30" tire 6000 rpm should get 130 mph , like you I'm 127 now , so depending on tire size maybe no where near optimal for a higher rpm powerband. Also don't remember what valve springs you're running but over .600 lift needs more than 1218s and could hurt long term reliability ( maybe not a concern) then there's idle quality/ drivability with AC - totally depends on what you want. You probably could have run a 10 shifting at 6500 . No answers, just things to think about. Keep up the great work

front tire is 215/65/r17 rear is 305/45/r17 and my heads were built by Calhoun motorsports, i know the put dual 660 springs and graded the trunnions. I definitely want my drivability to still be decent and ac is definitely a must here in Louisiana. Ome thing i definitely have to do is get a holley cord and start logging my runs. My tuner has been on me about doing that and him remote tuning while I'm at the track

Logging most runs is an absolute must even if you have no intention of doing any tuning. You can potentially catch small problems before they become really big ones. Years ago I had a MAP sensor blow out and suddenly I had 100kpa worth of fuel instead of 170kpa worth. Instead of sweating over a hot engine wondering why it just fell on its face, I could immediately see the problem and fix it.
