Default Blower guys: Who is running more than 7 lbs on stock bottom end?

I want to pulley down to a 2.75 pulley to get my 9 lbs which my kit is rated for, right now I push 7 and that is basically right at redline for the most part its at 5 lbs until the last 1000 rpm

Just wanted to know who is and who has been running 9 lbs of boost safely on the stock bottom ends.

Thanks!

You can run up to 10 to 12 lbs with a safe tune. Timing set low and run it fat..

10-12 lbs? that would make me kinda nervous even with a 11:1 a/f tune.

I'll pulley down to get my 9 lbs that should hold me over enough for now.

I am running a 12 pound pulley on mine(Procharger intercooled), I cannot advise anything yet because it will not be running until next weekend. I am still putting on the inline pump and just got done installing 55lbs injectors. But I am a little concerned with running such a high boost, but the shop I am getting it tuned at said with running 100 octane and a safe tune, I'll be allright. Any comments or suggestions would be galdly accepted.

I ran 8psi + nitrous on the stock bottom end a LOT and never had any problems. Finally broke a piston after I pulled the blower and did heads/cam/150 shot.

@7-7.5 untill blower locked up and messed everything up. LOL! Just cranked the new forged bottom end up tonight. But it will hold as long as the tune is good.

you could always stick a water injection kit on there to be safe. dont forget, the smaller the charger the more temp it will put in the air at the same boost. check the flow graphs to make sure your not over reving the impeller. if you are inlet temps will rocket, and det will accur much sooner!

hope it all goes well. thanks Chris.

I'm hitting 11 - 11.5 lbs of boost when I rev to 6200 - 6250 with the nice cool fall air. This is with a D1SC, 4.5 pulley, and a SIC. Note I'm also running a 93 + Torco mix on top of a conservative tune for added safety.

i am running 8-8.5 psi (turbo)right now no problem car is slow as ***** though still cant figure it out. hold boost just makes no power. If i ever get it running right boost will go to 10-12psi with the quickness.

That right there is what is going to get you into trouble...... and then you will be when the bottom end goes Retunbe EVERY time you add more boost because timing will have to be changes and well as more fuel to go with the more air. If you dont your asking for nothing but trouble.
I know ive doen it..... do a search under my screen name and see how those stock pistons liked 11 psi with a tune for 7 psi.

ditto.

the one main drawback about the stock ls1 computer is when you add more air, load doesn't automatically increase, pulling timing and add fuel, like the ford eec's work
