Intercooler/Turbo Tubing hello, im a newbie, i drive a black 1995 3.8L L36 firebird, my question is in regards to the piping that has to be fabricated for a turbo setup. i read in a post earlier that you can get the tubing on ebay for like $35 for 5ft of 2.5" steel exhaust pipe, and something similar for the aluminum pipes for the intercooling. so how many ft of each is needed to complete the setup? exluding headers (making forward swept), also, does anyone have a ballpark figure on how much it costs to get the pipes mandrel bent for the application? thanks.

thanks alot, the whole lot of ya are a big help, who cares if its a v6, the principle is the same, im looking to get turbo piping done, great board, 30 people viewing pretty much all the time, 35 viewed this topic and not 1 reply thanks!!

FWIW, most "muffler" place can't mandrel bend stuff. You best bet it to buy the bends and piece them together.
You can't expect an exact answer to a vauge question like that.
Almost as bad as asking for a complete parts list, with indivdual prices on each part, and detailed instructions on how to fabricate, install and assemble it. Ain't gonna happen, that's why it's custom
Now if you want to know where to get certain parts, or what might work together, you'll get a ton of answers.

copy this setup, works good.
Use Weld El's, heavy gauge bends.
search firebirdv6.com for "shane" and there are many pics and lots of info on the setup. A very impressive setup, with good results. A good friend of mine built the kit.

thats exactly the way i want to setup my car, i was just wondering what the price range was for the bending, that's all. and im unclear if i need an FMU some people say yes, others say no.. intercooler is definate!

well im definetly running an intercooler, 26" x 6" x 3.5" or so, mounting under the bumper near the plastic scratch guard. i may uprade the injectors as well, not sure yet, i heard if you upgrade the injectors you dont need an FMU (im only planning on running 9psi at first)

For 1 3/4 bends they are about $15 per bend for mild steel, it takes around 20 to make a set of turbo headers. Beynond that there is a lot of other bends that go into getting the air to the intercooler, and from there to the throttle body, its best in most cases to buy a complete kit if one is available for your application.
