Default Turbo EGT

Post your cruise and WOT EGT's for those of you that have recorded them right off the motor before the turbo.

Thanks

No personal data. But you would be a good idea to post were the thermocouple(s) are located. For example placing the thermocouple a few inches from the header flange would yield drastically different results than say the thermocouple in the collector.

My probe is in the y-pipe. At idle, between 800 to 900 degrees. WOT through 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, I usually get between 1200-1300. Just cruising, usually between 1000-1100. Hope that helps.

How high is too high? I know researching my Cummins, extended above 12-1300ish is pretty much the line in the sand, but this is a completely different ball game. Thinking about putting a pyro in my car (hopefully it'll be running in a day or 2 here) just to see, but I dunno what the line to watch out for would be.

From what I've heard, if your over 1400 at WOT that is getting too high. So, that is why I am pretty happy with mine running between 1200-1300. Before I did the injectors, intercooler, etc... At 5 psi, by the end of a 1/4 mile run, I was a little over 1400, so I let off before the end of the track. Now, we'll have to see with the injectors and the new tune.

The Buick GN turbo setups tune for 1500-1650* depending upon air temp outside. The probe/guage reads slightly differently with different ambient temps.

Mine would go faster as I leaned it out to increase EGT's. 1600* for my GN hybrid (turbo V6) netted the fastest mph. My probe was near the header collector just before the turbine inlet. I wouldn't see why it would be different for LS1 based turbo setups unless your probes are post turbo. Lean it out until the mph slows down then richen it up a tad to be safe.

Yeah I have read mostly that EGTs below 1500 are safe and 1500-1600 is getting too hot. Any1 else care to chime in? This is a good discussion, not too many people have solid info on this for our cars...
But I am sure some people on here must know...

Anyone that wants to get scientific go right ahead
