Ring gaps and boost?

Default Ring gaps and boost?

When I built my motor, I set it up to take a 200 hit of spray. Ring gaps are .016 top and .018 second. How much boost would I be able to push before I run into ring problems? Pistons are forged flat tops from Diamond.

It seems me and you are always changing are combos at the same time to the same thing for the last 3 years....... I am boosting as well here in about 2 months.

LOL.... I use to be a N2O junkie... well, still am, but Im resisting buying a nitrous kit Once I got the feel of 700 lb ft of TQ I was hooked and N/A is plain *** boring to me. Sure, I can roast the tires through 3rd with my H/C setup, but the pin you in the seat TQ isnt there and I got tired of filling 2 bottles every weekend. I want something thats theres all the time

Hopefully the local guys arent reading this

when i did my rings, i remember the FI and nitrous guides on the ring chart that came with the rings had them at similair gaps.
so you should be able to run some good boost, now what is your CR to me would be more important.

Im running 11:1 now with flat tops and 58cc chamber heads, but I plan on changing the heads and cam. Im think along the lines of the 7xcc AFR heads with thick gaskets.

hmm, I would call those normal N.A. gaps, not n20 gaps.
I use .025 and .028 on a 3.905 bore FWIW.

The gaps were strait from Chris at Diamond. Hes now owner of APE.. Same Chris. They are plasma moly rings. He said theyll hold a 200 shot without a problem.

Switch the ring gaps around and you will be ok. If you are going to spray it all the time you may want to open both gaps up by .002". Even with boost you will be fine running those gaps. If you have any other questions PM me or just giveme a call.
