Default is it worth upgrading from a t76 q trim to a gts76?

this is in a 408 with 8.7-1 comprsion. 3" down pipe.

right now i have seen a peak of 13242hz on my maf. looking at the maf table i can estimate that to be arond 85lb's of air. i hope to push it a quite a bit harder.

eventualy i would like to step to twins or a big thumper but that wont be for a year or more. for now i am upgrading to at least a 3.5" downpipe and seperate wg down pipe. anyone have any idea what one of those gts76's would do for me? it is rated at 1100hp where the one i have now is rated at 950hp. trying to decide if it is worth the upgrade for one season.

Hey Parish,

I don't know much but Jose Zayes from Forced Inductions really likes the 76GTS. He could definitely give you some good info on it. He is on this board usually his user name is 1500 something

Just a thought

I was told that the gts was on a large frame. Is this true? and if it is i dont think it will fit where u have your turbo mounted.

I was told the 76gts is not a large frame and it has the latest S wheel on it which is the best wheel out from what I have heard. The wheel in it is supposed to be really light.

I called turbotechnology about a relocation bracket for the alternator. I asked about the pt76gts they told me it was on a large frame and that is y it would not work with there race kit. I asked him about trying to stuff it in my TA he said it could be done but it would have to be mounted side ways. I can not for the life of me remember who i talked to. I guess i will have to call back in the morning. That is the same turbo i want to run. Unless i can find something else on a small frame that will do what i want.

For your sake and mine. We should do a GP on this turbo. I know we could sell at least 10 of them. I herd that they where on back order though. It would be a good money saver.

it will be awhile for track times but check out my latest gtech. , it is running well.

look at the notes and dates. i am 400lbs heavy and gained 5mph with the 408 over my best ever previous gtech. my ET is close to the best but i have serious tracion issues right now to work out.

The GTS is a T4flange... as it matches the flange for my old on-center T66. Pics on my rice etr site.

Look on turbomustangs.com... seems to be a lot of talk about this turbo and quite a few guys stepping down from 80mm's to the 76 gts to make more power and spool considerably quicker. I think it's a smart move

I'm sure the cold weather is helping with the mph some, but still you have a lot to go still.

Very welcome... glad to help.

I know it is a big shaft turbo.... and I am almost positive it will work with the TTi race kit... MM is running a turbo with the same outer dims I believe.

What dims do you need?.. I can measure them right here.

I hear ya on the price... but I got mine new 2nd hand for a good price

Oh.... I do know a few things that maybe George is thinking about.

His race kit was originally made around a GT80, which has a 2.5 comp outlet and a 3.5" DP.... the GTS has the same 4" inlet, but a 3" comp outlet and a 3" DP.... though he has made the mods to make it work recently for people so I am sure you would just have to tell him you were running it before he sent the kit.
