does anyone know if an LS1 has enough exhaust from both heads to spin a Cummins T46 turbo enough to get any usefull boost?

if it is the turbo from the 5.9 cummins engines used by dodge, you can spool it but I've heard that they are only good for 500-550rwhp. if it's from one of the big rigs(855ci or bigger)...uh,...no. I saw a guy put one of those on a 455 pontiac with a stock cam and he only made 8psi at redline with no wastegate.

yeah, it's off of a big rig. not the 5.9L dodge. i'd love to have more info on it but i bought it used and rebuilt it. I know it's a T46 cummins and I know its discontinued. but man that thing screams! (hooked it up to my air compressor) and 8psi ain't to shabby. it will be interresting to see

What about Holset turbos? Back in my DSM days I looked into putting an HX35 on my '97 Talon. I know that there are a few other HX and HY series turbos out there that might work fairly well in a street turbo car. HX55s can be had for a fairly decent price, and while it might not be the best turbo for an all-out race motor, it might just work well for the budget-minded amongst us.

Also, remember that heat plays a big role in the efficiency of a turbo on said engine. Not only does it take 'exhaust pressure' but the heat from those exhaust gases expanding rapidly also causes the turbine wheel to turn.
