Default 6.0 LQ9 heads?

Are the 6.0 lq9 heads the ones some of you boosted guys are using? If so, will they work as is, or is any P&P required? I have a chance to pick some up super cheap, but don't know if they will work for my TT setup.

I use em on my 5.3L truck.

The LQ9 and LQ4 heads are the same. If you are getting them for under $500 then you're doin good.

I'm using the 918s. My new heads are going to be completely different but the 918s worked for what I used to have. Just don't get real agressive on the cam or else those wont be enough with a lot of boost.

Yes, but are the 6.0L heads worthwhile for FI even if you don't port or polish them?

I believe its the compression drop most people look at when they add them to a stock motor when the heads are still in stock form.

I run LQ9 317 casting 6.0L ported heads.

The compression drop is worth the addition of the heads alone.......especially with a turbo setup.

Strap the heads on and crank up the boost!

The type of valve spring depends on the cam you are using. I'm using a cam with under .600 lift so the comp 918s were fine for me.

I got mine off ebay complete for $300 back in October.

Also, the 6.0L 317 casting DO flow better than stock LS1 heads. They have the same port design as the LS6 head.

Kyle, did you do a before/after 6.0L head results dyno? How much, if any, did your boost drop when you added the 6.0L's?

Thanks,

Mark

Sorry i went with a new shortlock at the same time........ back in the early days people would see about a 2-3 psi drop but HP would stay right about the same..... so the motor wasnt working as hard to make the same power and the restriction to flow was down.. ie boost.
