No PM needed, cuz none of our sponsors sell it
www.por-15.com

You will need the metal ready, marine clean, POR-20 and thats about it. I bought two 8oz containers of the POR 20 and a quart of the rest of the stuff.

This may be a stupid question but - Ive been looking at the Phamspeed kits and worry about the heat from the turbine right in front of the crank pulley Is anyone having problems with the heat? Melting serp belts? turbine being right behind the radiator any overheating?

Does anyone know the diff between the budget kit and just the single kit? I have so many questions but dont want to bother them by calling and keeping them on the phone. I drop'd phamspeed a email yesterday, but its the weekend so I probably wont get a reply.

Is there alot of fabbing involved with install? Like I dont have a welder so I cant just weld and cut as I please, I need this thing to bolt in. As for the rad fans, do they have to be moved? Phamspeed's site doesn't give to many details at all...

Other than that, the kit looks sweet, hope the rest of your install goes well

the budget kit is pretty much 99% bolt on. i think the only thing u cant do urself is weld it to the remainder of ur i pipe or exhaust. uses existing stock manifolds.

the single kit is pretty much the same fab wise (unless you want a fmic for either kit) but the it uses custom made exhaust manifolds created by phamspeed.

Thanks for the quick reply, I just read that in a post by LT1-7 a few min ago. That shoots down the dream of having the kit this summer. I tossed my old manifolds. Ehh, NA is looking good right now....

if you want to go FI/get this kit just having aftermarket exhaust is a poor excuse to drop it. I'm sure people are selling stock manifolds for cheap in the foresale section, or find someone who wants an aftermarket set of your type and offer to sell it to them + their menifolds.

when their is a will, their is a way

yeah after all the positive response from phamspeed and that a full kit is still about a grand less than STS

****, I have a set of 98 stocker manifolds sitting in my manifold pile outside....LT1 guys I have those too So if you want em let me know.

Coated my headers today. They look sharp...going to let em dry for another 12hrs and then bake em. Then its install time...turbo its sooooo close to going on now. For the person who was asking, with this kit, it's pretty much bolt on but I had to do extra work. My BMR k member was in the way, if I didn't have that i'd be a lil further, plus I wanted to coat my stuff so that added time to the install. You need a FMIC of some sort if you are going to run 6psi or more...or meth..so yeah you will have to weld some stuff up or have it done for you. Buy a cheap welder and teach yourself..its what I did. That'll save you some $$ in the long run.

here's todays progress...was delayed some...had a baptismal to go to.

All of it starts to go back on to the car tomorrow

Thanks Man, not one run either...but I did manage to rub my back on the ypipe Had to reshoot it, but it came out very good afterwards. Man this stuff sticks to everything so I went out and bought a better spray gun and did the headers with it and retouched the y and the downpipe. Best 50 bucks I've spent so far, that lil gun didn't over spray that much at all. We made our own "paint booth" outside this time too, it rocked..gotta post pics of that half assed get up

Very nice. Are you using a HVLP gun, or a regular compressor fed one?

Thanks guys, nice to see another person doing the Phamspeed kit Rick.

Fandango, its a 50 dollar Harbor Freight regular pressure gun(PN 43429). I ran it at 35psi on my regulator. I was going to get the HVLP gun but felt I was stretching my painting limitations had I went with that gun. I've never done paint work with a gun before, just spray cans. The y and DP were started with a cheapy gun I got at a yardsale...it was NIB. It wasted an awful lot of paint....I was in a high temp coating cloud with all the overspray that thing was producing .

Looks awesome. I like the FMIC setup and your exaust coating looks very cool. Only thing stopping me from fabbing my own custom stuff is not knowing how to weld. What kind of welder would you suggest for a beginner?

Hellraiser, I'll pass it along, you need to order a compressor discharge flange and clamp for the GT42...call precision@1.219.996.7832 its 85 big ones, but at least you don't have to next day it like me....that probably added another 35-50 onto the price.

Was the V-band flange alum. or steel??
