Default Intercooler for WS6 Trans Am

Hello Fellas:

I need to intercool my turbo and I am wondering if anyone makes a kit for we Trans Am folks who don't have a wide open front bumper like the camaro guys do.....

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated....also at reasonable prices

Thanks

PS pic would be a big bonus too!

Does anyone else mount the IC anywhere else? I mean that's the best place obviously.

Edit: Kyle, what BOV are you running? a Tial or is that an ATI race?

You could always mount a big liquid/air intercooler behind the front facia? Something like this:

Does anyone think that removing the foglights makes that much of a difference? It seems that there would still be plenty of flow to the intercooler by just cutting the front license area.

Edit: Nevermind. After looking at PSJ's setup it looks like there is plenty of surface area exposed.

I would love to have an intercooler that hides behind the front facia. What are those called and who makes them?

We can make them all day long and we are working on a line to compete with the OBX market. These intercoolers will be made of the same material as the ones used on Powerstrokes, Cummins and Duramax applications (max 95 lbs and 700 degrees). These units will still not be as heavy as Bar and plate type coolers.

Jimmy what do you mean you can make them all day long to compete with the OBX coolers? Are you refering to what bradyb posted? Or you refering to an air to air. Remember mighty mouse if this is primarily a street/strip application, the A2A IC, imo is still the best and only way to go. No worries about heat soak and nothing more compicated than finding a way to mount it.

Kyle, I think the front mount with the LP cover is growing on me. Screw the MD front LP!! Besides...the front plate cover will hide the IC on the street enough, allowing decent airflow through the fog light holes, and then open that sucker up on the track. I think I'd still find a way to shroud it from the fog light holes and underneath the front facia to get some extra air flow to it.

Sorry, refering to air to air. I have been trying to get Griffin to take a look at the amount of these OBX intercoolers that are hitting the market. I have been waiting for some parts for one of our fin machines to make this certain type of intercooler. What it will involve is a shorter fin less dense and a few more passages (less pressure drop) and it will be competitve in price. Now the other type of intercooler (inline bullet style h20) We had a customer come in with one of these packages and wants to change his line over to air to air. He stated he was seeing to much presseure drop, but i dont know what turbo setup he was utilizing or what he was seeing in pressure loss or anything like that.

Keep us posted Jimmy, because I'm probably going to be doing a project build with in the next 12 months (looking for the right car now , see post below) and using the phamspeed kit, so I welcome competative prices on ICs cold side stuff. Like I said above, A2A, imho is the only way to go for a street/strip car. In all honesty and an unbiased opinion, who is making the best A2A IC out there right now?

You get the full system, pump heat exchanger, water tank, etc.. http://www.pwr-performance.com/intercooler.htm.
http://www.pwr.com.au/pwr/index.asp
We only lose about a 1/3 of a pound on our Hemi kit with it.

They are more expensive but great for someone who doesn't want to cut up their front end. You can see by just looking at the picture how much better the air would flow through it. The fastest turbo cars, 3000 horsepower door slammers use liquid/air intercoolers.
