Default 98 FI GUYS a lil poll, who needs 2-3bar tuning...efilive wants to know

Here is a post from EFIlive
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....6&postcount=39

They might consider doing a 2-3bar upgrade for the 98 FI guys. I know I bought HP Tuners for this option only to have it not release for my year after the money was spent. I have no problem selling my HP tuners stuff to get a tuning program that uses my stock PCM, instead of cutting and splicing in another system to take over the work. I hate adding stuff to the car that could lead to electrical gremlins down the road.

SO if you have a 98 car and are FI'ed and plan on or are pushing 15+psi post up and be heard. I'd really like this to come a reality as I do need a tuning solution to get the most from my turbo kit with what I have.

I know this could be a lil late since a few of you went with megasquirt but it couldn't hurt to post up anyway.

remember a 2 bar isnt good for over over 15psi, need a 3 bar for that I think efiLive is only planning a 2 bar for now.

I would be very happy if they did a 2 bar for 98s though, that would be plenty for me. I am thinking of swapping to a 99+ PCM at the moment though. But since I own Flashscan and HPt it sure would be nice if someone made a 98 2 bar.

Why not just get the MegaSquirt, it will allow you to run low Z injectors, and is a good bit less expensive than the EFI FlashnScan

Kevin, your scope is so narrow, 2 bar to start would be awesome right? Just to get our foot in the door, headed in the right direction.......get me

3 bar could be introduced later, if I had the ability to tune with a 2 bar set up that would be great for now. I'm sure the turbo will make a lot more power than the ATI at 15 psi anyway(crosses fingers ).

Upgrade my PCM....NO! not until I or we exhaust all possibilities of a 2 or 3 bar SD set up coming out.

Ed, like I stated before, I hate cutting and splicing into wire harnesses. I'm colorblind for starters and getting the correct wires to tap into or to cut isn't a walk in the park for me. Plus you run the risk of shorts somewhere down the line. I just hate wiring stuff in PERIOD. The stock PCM is more than capable of the HP i'm after...but I just want a convienent way to tune it. Piggy backs and standalones aren't convienent. My high Z 60lb mototrons are plenty for me and run excellently on my car and were easy to tune....why do I need low Z injectors?

Keep this on track, those of you who have 98's and don't want a piggy back set up and want the ability to push 15+ psi post up....EFIlive is listening.

I am interested.

Personally, I Feel a maf is a far superior system, but I would be interested in tuning my car both methods to get good comparison to know if this is really the case, or what the huge benefit of SD tuning is.

We would have been interested had they decided this months ago. However, I decided to go with the Megasquirt instead.

Oh I get it and I want it, to be honest I can do what I need to do with the MAF but it would be great to be able to do a MAFless SD tune as an option on a 98. Still may swap PCMs though

Yeah I'm still getting away with a maxed out MAF, but would prefer to do it another way too.

So Kev's a yes.....before he swaps PCM's
