Default ball bearings vs conventional bearings

How much of a difference do the ball-bearing turbos make over the conventional bearing turbos, and is the cost justified?? It looks like the ball bearing turbos are about double the cost..

Are these all of the (practical) bearing choices or am I missing something?

For a small cube motor it maybe worth the price. For these big cube motors, I would save my money unless its very critcal to get the largest turbo on the car with a certain stall speed, rpm range...you get my drift...

Default big or small?

When you say big or small, do you mean a 346ci relative to a 2.0L? or like 346ci relative to a 427ci?

He's talking about a 2.0. IMHO it is not worth it. My buddy just installed a PTK kit with a T-76 GTS on his 96 cobra and that thing spool plenty quick. That is a standard bearing turbo on a smaller motor. We raced a pullied lighting from a 60 roll yesterday. We gave him the jump and he didn't even get half a car before we had full boost and started to put bus lengths on him.

With a 347 it will spool faster, plus they last longer (almost all OEM turbos have standard bearings) and are cheaper to re-build!

Are the spool times noticeably different with the ball bearing turbos on a stock-cube LS1?

With a smaller T70'ish turbo I doubt you could notice the difference, we have a LT1 with a T70 std bearing and it will pretty much instantly open the waste gate from a punch, its very quick to spool that turbo.
