Default Any bad *** sounding turbos?

Does anybody have any sound clips of their exhaust with a single turbo? I am interested in getting a single turbo, but I don't want to give up my dual exhaust b/c i love the sound of it. Are there any bad *** sounding turbos out there with a sinlge exhaust?

I have a TE45 P trim w/ open dump, and from -10 vacuum to 2psi of boost it is ridiculously loud. Quite louder than anything else I've ever heard around here. It cuts off all higher freq. noise, and simply leaves the low rumble that is heard streets away, and the imfamous whistle.

From what I've read w/ the GN guys, it seems most GT wheels, are quieter than the older tech wheels.

This is a thread the owner of alky control made, there is probably more turbo comparisons on this thread noise-wise, than a supra forum

http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/sho...hreadid=154490

Anything over a 63mm wheel is where you need to start, IMO.

http://home.comcast.net/~jsbird1998/turbocruise.mp4

EDIT, its DL as turbocruise.mp4.txt for some reason, so when its downloaded just rename the file turbocruise.mp4 and it'll play....who knows why its being saved as a text file?? File name it's saved under lists it as a .mp4 too?
Open 3 inch downpipe, will be ran to the magnaflow cat back tomorrow...should get a lil quieter.
Turbo is a Garrett GT42.

Surprisignly, that was quiet. Unless the video does not capture the real sound (I imagine it doesn't) but I seemed to hear more engine noise vs. turbo.

Regardless, that is one nice car, and that turbo is on my wish lish.

Yeah at idle the exhaust is loud but you have to listen to it as it goes by. Sounds mean as hell.

Mine sounds like a duck call...how cool is that?

Go to www.theclashofthetitans.com and download some of the videos from there. David Marroquin, Steve Millen, Brad Brand, etc. You'll hear some wicked turbos from that.
<--has almost every video from COTH's site.

I know, I was merely commenting on at first hearing more exhaust. The turbo screamed though.

I wish I knew how to vost/edit vids. I have one of my TE45 on my GN.

I have a few vids of different turbos on GN's if you'd like to hear what they sound like, and choose which one you like based on sound.

Just trying to help.

yeah the turbo is very quiet, which is good, it just sounds like a cammed LS1, no more ATI D1-SC giving a hint to the hell the car brings to people running up against me...sleeper sort of
Thanks Marley, cool compliments...hopefully this turbo will be enough for what I need it to do.

That turbo is what we use for our stage cars People shoot for 9's with that.

The mass flow of that turbo will sustain you to over 1000+hp. I believe its rated at 1300hp, right? Regardless, you'll never have to swap turbos, so dont worry about it being enough Just push it to 26psi or so and have some fun.

Wanna trade turbos?

I'll trade you if this sucker doesn't get me my 10s...which up here above 5800ft is quite the task The D1 got me to 11.10@124.95mph so I just need that lil push over the edge.

I think the GT42 I have will be good for 800-900rwhp? I'm shooting for 700rwhp for now.

OOh..Didnt know you were at 5800ft.. Well then that kinda makes everything a different story, doesn't it? hahah.

I've heard w/ proper supporting setups, 800+rwhp is attainable, but keywords being proper supporting setups.

Goodluck, and Ill hold you to that trade!

On a side note, I'm really liking this site. It seems much more "tech"(no duh) than it does like a social site. As a 3rd party who wanted to learn about F-bods and LS1's, I've learned more in this afternoon of reading than I have anywhere else. Are there other LS1 forums? Or are those more "social"?

I run open cutouts right after the turbos on each side of the car pointed out. It is loud as all hell when you are WOT. People tell me they can hear me miles away when I lay into it.

You hear the wistle at -15 Vac on up, then once the boost builds you get a loud sound of rushing air and the sound of a warmed over V8 screaming.

Running cutouts is where it's at on turbo cars. The turbo will help quiet it down....some.....(not much really) lol. I can hear the turbos really well though the exhaust, and so can everyone else....but I am running an totally unrestrictive loudmouth exhaust as well.

Yeah GN's turbo scream. I love thier setup, turbo right there in your face when you pop the hood. They look like easy cars to work on when you have to. I was close to buying the 89 turbo TA but it didn't work out.

I remember when I use to go to Philly for the street race's there was a group of like 5-7 GN's there every Sunday. Some mild to wild very fun to watch race. They come out the hole like a ****..
