Default found the boost limit on my car tonight

put some 100 in the car and 50/50 water methanol in the alky kit and went out to see if i could get my boost to 14-15psi. Witht he electronic boost controller maxxed out it would go to 13 and thats it. It appears the waste gate spring is not strong enough to achieve higher boost.

The good news is that that car basically maxxes out at 13psi and won't go higher, therefore making it harder for me to blow it up (i think).

Bad news is it won't go over 13psi (catch 22, huh?) Makes 13 psi around 4k in 4th gear.

Car is pretty much done, i'm quite happy with it. One mod I could do is switch to a small a/r turbine housing to get it to spool quicker, but I think at this point i'm just gonna let it alone since it works quite well. We'll see if the bug gets me or not. Next step is to start collecting some parts for the new motor.

The a/f is 11.3:1 with a max egt of about 1425 in the collector doing a 70-140 mph pull in 3rd and 4th (took 10 seconds according to the log), zero knock. Hopefully i'll be able to see 13 psi in 2-4th tomorrow at the track. Last time it would go to 11, then fall to 9.5-10 psi at the top of each gear.

Hoping for a 125 mph trap (it's vegas, don't say it should be higher)

with a 67 and a .81ar you are probably running out of turbo. switching to a smaller AR would kill you, you are already out of your effiency range as it is.

Good Luck on your quest for 125mph trap speeds! In vegas, especially this time of year, that's tough to do with a street car, but I hear your car absoutely hauls.

I think slowhawk is right, that's why Jon and I wanted to go bigger....

EDIT: When I saw your post, I though something bad happen'd.

Yeah, thats what I figure too. I'm thinking a T76 with a .68 q-trim would work quite nice as a replacment with about the same spool characteristics.

i wouldnt do a .68ar that wouldchoke your motor to its death. the oly real way to get it to spool better with out choking the motor is move it closer to the engine.

Remember, cooler exhaust = less volume = ability to run smaller a/r without choking it. I'm pretty sure i'm going to do the .68 when I go to the 76.
