Default Vaccum questions (bov/wastegate)

Like some of you know im building a turbo system for my car. im to the point where im putting on the wastegate and bov.. when putting the supply lines on, can i just use the vaccum line that i hooked my boost guage up to?? (I tapped into it on the drivers side of the car) And since im not running a boost controller at this point, the top of the wastegate will just vent correct??
And for the dumbest question everyone prolly will hear, where abouts should the bov be installed at? On the pipe that comes from the turbo to the intake right? how far from the intake should it be, or how far back from the maf should it be??

Im just starting to learn about these as i go.....Ill keep everyone posted on the install and try and get some pictures up.....
Thanks,

You can install the BOV in two places. Right after the turbo outlet, or right before the TB.

As for the vacuum sources, you typically want all the components with their own vacuum source.

and about the placement of the bov, doesnt it have to go before the maf so that it isnt counting on the air that went through it and just got blown out of the bov????

Ah yes forgot about the MAF. Most of the cars we deal with have no MAF's...hehe. But yes you want to have it before the MAF.

Yep, unless you have a recirculation type BOV put it before the MAF. If not, the MAF will think there is more air in the intake and whack out your A/F ( rich ). A recirc type will route the vented pressure back into the intake. If you use speed density tuning then either type BOV and location will work for you.
Also try to source the BOV vacuum with its own line. It won't kill anything but never hurts if options are available....

ok...now that i got that straightened out, i would like to clear up some things about the wastegate....it has an 8.5psi spring in it.....so since im not running a boost controller, i dont have to worry about it going over 8.5 pounds of boost right? thats how i will control my boost until i put a boost controller on it?? and the spot where the boost controller goes just vents and the vaccum hooks into the side???
Thanks for the help so far guys!!

Jose is right, brand can make a difference but yes, the spring should prevent overboost as long as it is hooked up properly. The boost controller will allow you to boost over the spring rating by reducing the pressure the WG sees ( keeps it from opening at the spring rating ). The WG spring will then be the "maximum" boost level if you turn off the controller.
