if tuned properly it should hold more than 10psi. However the obvious question is, if you have the cash to build a 408, why not buy head studs?

seems crazy to use stock fasteners on such an expensive build.

Personally $200 is a sound investment for something like that. OFF TOPIC, is this going on your car? If so are you not selling it now?

I am selling it, but it needs to run good and solid first, and I'd like to run it at 9lbs

My SS Silverado is a 6.0 forged shortblock with MLS factory head gaskets and stock bolts. It has a little over 25,000 miles on the engine with the turocharger. During power tour I ran it at Indy, the boost hit 20psi in 3rd gear when the converter locked. It has run 12-20 psi for the last 18 months without problems.

with your 9:1 cr you are going to see higher than 10 psi before you need to worry about lifting a head, heck look what we put to mine with the stock 10.5:1, but just to soothe everyone else, studs are on the list, we just dont see doing them right now, since the heads haven't been off since it was first put together, so instead of wasting the gaskets right now, we will use the stock head bolts and gaskets that are on there now for the the first little while to make sure there are no problems. I mean, the wastegate springs we have in it right now are 3 psi, but we have 6 and 9 psi springs as well.

I think 9-10 psi is okay.

BTW, please send me the boost list files to john@ls1tech.com and we will host them on the site going forward, or we will rebuild them and start from scratch.

On the same side of the coin as Kurt, I ran countless 300 shot nitrous passes with 12.5:1 compression on my old setup, with stock head bolts. Just food for though...
