Thats close to my custom cam. Other than I have 224/230 on a 114. But you lifts are a little bigger. But since your going with a 383 that should fit in nice.

Recently I pulled out a similar Cam of a 224/228 and put in a 220/224 on 115 .The smaller Cam gained 30hp/30tq over the bigger Cam everywhere.Kind of wierd but I like the smaller Cams more. That same 220 Cam has pushed over 700rwhp on a pump gas Corvette recently too

Thats interesting. The 220/224 would pass smog with no problem. What was the lift?

Engine size?
Blower?
Intercooled?

Cam specs will make a huge difference.

So Ed, would you plan to have your combo peak at 5800, 6000?

I peak at 6500-6600 and I shift at 6600-6800.

I run 236/246//114 from Cam Motion.

My cam is pretty lopey.

Terry @ Cam Motion wanted me to do a 236/243 but I added more exhaust duration based on advice from a few 150mph+ blower guys I know.

Its a stroker so I wasn't planning on spinning it like the last engine (6500-6800 shift) I want torque. So peak closer to 6000.
Cam must pass smog.

Sounds like a nice combo. I recall talking about turbo cams with Terry and he was suggesting cams like that or a bit bigger. I recall a 230/224 or so coming up once.

.560/.570 lift on XE lobes.
Very easy on the valvetrain

We use to run bigger Cams but found the small Cams come close to the peak but give alot more midrange which works perfect for a street/strip car.

Here is a common spec we do
forged 346 at 9.5-1 compression
AFR 205 heads
Custom 220/224 on 115 Cam
60lb injector's
D1 at 14lbs -93 octain gas = 680- 750hp/560-610tq depending on how agressive the tune and driver skill
The car's idle like stock, perfect drivability and pull to 6800rpm no problem.

Interesting option. This will be a street/strip car. Thats why I want torque. I don't want to spin the engine to get the power. Better for the motor.

Hmm... 224/227 .563/.569 114 LSA

I'm doing AFR 205's finally. Tony Mamo says that 224/228 is a great cam for these heads. However, I'm seeing more and more people say they've gained great mid-range without much loss up top by going with a smaller cam (depending on the car's setup). Mine's for mostly street/strip .. mostly street. With the new AFR's, I was planning on changing my cam (in my sig) for a 224/228 ... to match the AFR's. Would it be worth it to do that? Mine's not a split cam and it's on a 112 LSA.

Define midrange? You mean area under the curve? A smaller cam with that LSA might have really good peak HP but wouldn't you agree that it's not necessarily, or probably not, going to have as much area under the curve? If I try to extend out what I think you are saying, then are you saying that a 220/224/115 would make more power than 230/236//115 or a 236/246//114? I would not agree with that. I'm sure I am missing something.

FWIW my 230/236/115 idled great and it did not sound that big. The current 236/246//114 is very very lopey.
