3" down pipe for turbotech
Hey cablebandit;
you said you wanted to convert to a 3" down pipe from the previous 2.5", right.
Did you think that there will be any clearance issue with that or do you think it will be fine?
I was thinking of having my local exhaust shoppe make me a 3incher before i get the kit put on.
It doesnt seem to hard to do. Think thats the way to go?
Any other pipe(s) you would recomend on increasing the diameter to??
Will see how fast we can make it to 500rwhp!

Terry, I wish that was true. It takes a VERY tight radius 3" pipe to clear the steering knuckle. We had to special order them bent to our specs to make it fit. I don't think you could find a muffler shop anywhere that would readily have a pipe like that available. IMHO.
So the short answer is, yes, we will be offering a 3" Downpipe for those who would like to upgrade their Turbo tech Kits.
Hope that helps,

Rob let us know when its available. i understand you are working on your kit and that has highest priority. Hopefully it will help the spool time a tick. I'd love to have the t-76 spooled up by 2800. I'm going to pull my manifold and check it out as well. Also, I think I will pull off the crossover and route a larger one like the a4 uses...I'm not lowering so I've got clearance

I guess I am lucky then. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> Or maybe LT1 cars have more space than the LS1s? It cost me around $150 but they were able to make one for me. It was very close to the steering but cleared with almost no dimpling or contact.

Yes you are lucky. The LT1 has significantly more space for the DP than the LS1. That's why Turbo Tech's 2 1/2" DP hits the steering knuckle. If they had used a tighter radius elbow, the 2 1/2 pipe would have cleared without a problem.
Smokinhawk, we don't have a price on the individual pieces yet. But I don't think the DP will be too bad.
Hope that helps,
