need help.... boosted tune... anyone
NOT another boosted tune help thread....
yes..
sorry..
I'm useing hptuners, stock ls1 but 42lb injectors, turbo @ 6psi intercooled, ngk tr6 plugs, wideband commander, could someone help me with a good tune, should I just drop the timing about 12degres and up the pe table a little, I'm not a super tuner wich is why I need some help with this one, but I do have the oh so lovely wideband commander... btw I cant log the wideband w/ my hptuners... any help would be killer

only knock I know of so far is in 6th gear at 1400-2000 rpm part throttle cruiseing, I havent gone wot w/ the new set up yet, I loaded a spark and pe table from a procharger tune before driving the car, it looks like the timing is only droped above .48g/cyl, I want to do some more driving today, I'll redo the timing table from stock -5 and see what that gets me, if I want my car to run 11.0 on the wideband would just messing with the pe table get me there?

Try taking out just the 5* across the board and see what that does. I just re-tuned a car with that being the only change and it runs about 11.1-11.3 on 5 lbs. of boost w/ a Powerdyne supercharger.
For the knock in 6th gear cruising, you want to clear or reset your LTFT's (long term fuel trims) so the car PCM can re-learn the demand. You will have to cruise with the car for between 50 and 100 miles, maybe more, for it to re-learn. Keep an eye on the LTFT's and check back with those numbers as well.

Well, if it's not entirely correct, then it's partially correct? Hahahaa. The LTFT's will learn in more quickly with the parameter reset. Either way, the parameter will learn in what the computer needs. However, would you rather wait 50 miles or 200 miles? It's up to you and everyone has a different route to a tune...just like eating an apple.

ok, just got back, droped the timing, reset the fuel trims, was out for about 1.5hr, the damn laptop just went dead so I have to charge up for a little while before I do anymore, next thing up is logging some wot runs looking at kr, ltft's, and wideband readings right?

The pe table is only referenced at throttle % over like 65% (it may be a higher %, I don't remember). Below that the VE table is more responsible. Are your ltft's positive or negative?? You want them to be negative. After addressing those, then you can adjust the PE table to get your WOT afr in check.

ok, the ltft's are around -1.6, had a few spikes that went to -5 but under wot there right at 0, now the bad news, the wideband was reading high 13's under wot and I got some major kr around 4400 rpm(9*), I would have thought the timing would be way too high only -6 from stock, the wideband also reads about 14.8 part throttle, I'd really like to get those down, I ended up the day with a coupler not holding one of my boosted runs, that should be fixed now so I should do some changes and go at it again, any ideaws...?
btw, this is the first I went into boost.... DAYUMN!!!, it was sooo awsome, cant wait to get the bugs worked out...

LTFT's are good. You're only running 6 lbs. of boost? The high 13's is scary at WOT. Are you running 93 octane? If you have good gas, good fuel filter, etc., then try this to tune out knock:
If cell (x, x) (RPM) shows 6 degrees of knock retard, then subtract 6 from the Main Spark vs. Airflow vs. RPM Open Throttle/Moving>High Octane (x, x) (@the same RPM) cell.
Please! watch your KR! 9* is way past the border to lift a gasket, if held at that point. Let off if you see it even approaching 5* !!

any KR more than 2 degrees is too much. It's too much if it's less than 2 degrees if it occurs more than once. It's very easy to kill a motor with detonation. Shoot for 11.0 a/f and make sure your timing is set low.
I'm not sure if your super charged or turbo, but what you could do is take all your timing after 3000 rpms and below .50 gms/cyl and set all those values to 10 and work your way up from there.
You need less timing at peak cyl pressure, pressure follows tq. After that you can ramp timing back roughly 2 degrees per 1000 rpms or keep them about the the same if it's centrifugaly supercharged.
Please don't pop the motor.

I'm turbo charged, pump gas 93 octaine, well it was running good after the knock, no fluids leaking, no dipstick pop, smooth idle, I do not want to see those conditions again though, the 9* was right before I shifted out of 2nd, I'm going to drop my timing alot and up the pe table to get some more fuel in there, what can I do to get a better afr at cruiseing throttle/speeds?, is it the ve table that needs adjusted...
