I ran my expensive pile of
at the World Street Nats in Orlando this weekend in the DOT class. This was the first time I`ve had the car to a track since last Dec, it has a fresh motor from Next Level Perf (great rebuild
). The car has alot of good parts 382 allbore, Ttrim Vortech, AFR 225s, Fast 90+intake, meziere wp , Century 4L60 , Yank PT3800, Stange 12bolt, and every suspension piece. I made two runs on Fri the best run was 10.21@ 131(I was expecting 9.7- 9.9s at like 138), then today I screwed up both runs, blew the tires off ran 10.56@ 131 and then I pushed through the staged beam just before the tree came down, this was in front of 10,000 people
. Apperently the Vortech aftercooler isn`t that efficient the car was at 120 IAT after the burnouts and would go to 160 IAT by the finsh line, which caused the car to pull lots of timing. I was also getting some belt slip from about the 800' where the car would dip from 11psi to 7.5psi till the finish line. The only good part of the car was the M/T 325/50 dragradials which cut 1.39 and 1.40 60's until I messed up today. The rest of the cars at the race were badass and I got to meet the Hardcore Racing crew and see their GTO go 6.95@ 202
so it wasnt all bad.

I'd consider other intercooling options. I used to get 170 iat's with the aftercooler. Now I can keep it is 120-140 depending on ambient with a 3" OBX (wish I had known about the 4" at the time of install). KP is deep in the 9's with the 4" OBX.

those are still decent times, get one of those one or three gallon fuel cells, pull the foam out and you have a much better water tank, that is what I have done, I have a pretty big intercooler (A2W) a one gallon tank, a really big heat exchanger, and one of the stock ford lightning water pumps.
it seems like something that will work well

His car is also dumping a lot of fuel in the cylinders cause his injector rates are off. A simple clean up of his tune would fix that. The high iat's don't help at all. That may be from his belt slipping and overspinning the blower. A nice front mount would cure that.
What I don't understand is why he is getting slip from the 1/8 mile on. I would think the car has more load at the beginning not from mid track on.. Gary is gonna throw a new belt on next week and that should take care of that problem.
The car definitley has mid 9 sec or better potential. Got a few little bugs to work out no big deal.
What's cool is his car still has the stereo and ac so he can literally drive home right from the track. No trailer needed. As already mentioned his car hooks great and leaves hard.
Cheer up spanky we'll get ya there, be patient grasshopper. Talk to Lou about what I called you about this morning.

I think Dave's car did really good for its first time out. His motor less then a week old and its going out and running a low ten with a small Vortec aftercooler, thats good. His IAT's where at 168 just before the 1/8 mile mark, I think if we can bring that down It will help a bunch.
