Default Ls1motorsports Singe Turbo Kit.....

I am going to start saving up some money for this kit, I assume its around $8000 when its all said and done....now, I have a stock bottom end, MTI S2 heads, and an MTI X1 cam 230/227 .591/.571 112lsa....stock compression...

I made 370rwhp and 455rwtq through a TH400 with a 3500 non locking stall converter, I have a moser 12-bolt w/3.73's...

The driveline will take whatever I through at it I assume...

Any guesses on what kind of HP and TQ gains I would see with this....I would want to get the 7lb kit, which can see 9lbs of boost I've heard...

Is the fuel system they provide good enough to support a heads/cam/turbo car?

Thanks,
Bos

everything they provide is set up for a completely stock car, some stuff you may already have..

i would worry about your compression the heads will probably have to come off..the cam probably too

the kit itself is around 6500 not 8 but replacing the above will get you close.

Cam might work, it similar to harlans.
larger intake over the exhaust, 112lsa.
i would go with a higher lsa like a 114, some would do a 116. Guess depends on your goals and drivabilty requirements.

i assumed your stage 2 heads were done with the standard mti stage 2 compression change near 11:1

I say with everything else in proper order, you can gain another 200hp being optimistic.

They will do you right for sure if you get it installed there, I doubt they would let you take the car if everything wasn't perfect.

I bought these set of heads used from a guy where I live....I thought that MTI S2's were stock 10:1 compression heads...can anyone give some insight on this??

Even starting with a stock vehicle, it's a crap shoot as to whether Ed can get close, plus he locks the program to completely screw everyone. Get the LS1M kit, take the three bill credit on the programming, and get custom programming with a MUSTANG dyno. It'll be worth every penny!

Wait so does LS1 motorsports use Ed Wright for tuning?

If that was the case I would have them install the kit and everything included and take it to my local shop to get dyno tuned using LS1edit, on a dynojet...

I also just found out that the heads that I have on my car are 10.1 or 10.3 compression, that is still low enough to run 7-9 pounds safely right?

I am going to keep the cam, I really don't see why I would need to remove the heads...they are stock compression heads...a stock motor has stock compression 10:1 right?

I think that would last for a while using 7-9lbs of boost..

The heads are not milled at all...

The kit is $6500 and the install is $1500

Both together is 8000....

I would have LS1 motorsports do the install, I wouldn't trust myself or any other shop considering this is their own kit...

What kind of HP would I be looking at with the addition of this kit?

Ok, I just re-read the post, I guess I will take the 300 dollar credit and have my own shop do it...

I think that would be better off because then they can moniter the A/F ratios as the RPM's climb on the dyno..

Is there anyone on this site with this kit installed on their car?

Milled Heads don't create the best seal for FI, IMHO.

Well the compression I'm at now is somewhere from 10:1 - 10:3, I think that is still in the safe zone...

Does anyone on this site actually have the Ls1 motorsports kit?

I recently e-mailed Speed Inc. about the turbos they might be offering, they are 10 mins away from me, so that might be the route to go down the road...thats if they come out proven... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Have you ever just considered selling your heads?

I know TEA now has a FI 6.0 head avail. I understand they remove (CNC) some material from the chambers. This combined with the heads allready low CR, gives something in the range of about 9 to 1 CR. Perfect for FI.

So, with these heads, you not only get TEAs great porting & flow results, you also get the CR you really need to take advantage of increased boost combined with pump gas. In my opinion, it's a win-win deal.

Just a thought....

I just bought these S2 MTI's and I really want to keep them, I am very very happy with them...

I think I am going to keep my setup how it is for now, get a turbo kit installed, see how it goes, and probably down the line do rods and dished pistons...
