Default A Question About Turbo Log Primarys sizeing?

I have the Turbotech kit with a T-60 witch is way to small for my motor. It has the original log witch is 2"ID 316 SS, with 1 1/2 od primarys. Witch i think is about 1 5/8 id or just a tad smaller.I talked to Rob Raymer today about it and he said it would not support his 375 ci motor. So im going to upgrade to T-76 with a Q-trim impeller and possibally go with a T-88. So im going to build a new log I alreay have the fittings to build the primarys It's 1 1/2 316 SS Sch 10 90*'s. Will the size of these primarys support a 404 ci motor? And also the size of the log would i need 2 1/2" ID or should i just stick with 2" ID. For the crossover Im thinking of going with 2 5/8 OD 316 Tubeing and getting the mandrel bends and pieceing it toghter. What size would u all recommend? And also the wastegate location should i keep it in the Turbo Tech location or put it like its in Robs kit rightbefore the turbo? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

if you can improve the wastegate, like Robs kit do so. The turbotech location sucks. My gives bad boost spike when i open the cutout.

as for the log, if possible, switch to an equal length set up, if you got the money time ability. the log is the must inefficint way, as the exhaust pulses can mess things up. but your limited to size restrictions in makeing a new log. I think Rob uses a 2" ID log and 3/4 primaries. Id go with that if your gonna do a log. Remember you what exhaust velocity too, so dont go too big.

So my log is basically gonna be the same but just with 1 1/2 ID primarys, Would you think there would be room in between the turbo log and PS pump for the gate like on robs kit or would it be under the pump? And also Has anyone heard of Turbosmart Wastegates? They are based outta austraulia. It WWW.Turbosmart.com.au Could some one check it out and tell me if you would think it would work or not? And for the size of the crossover woud you think 2 1/4 OD SS tubeing would be the best size? Thanks Justin Hagerman

http://www.ls1motorsports.com/Single_Turbo.htm

their crossover is also 2 1/4

maybe you should just buy the parts from rob?

I found out today from a guy at Innotavite turbo that I should go to the 1 1/2 Id primarys. They are exactly the same size in id as a 1 3/4 header id. He also told me about my wastegate selection and should go with his 51 mm INDY Gate, and thier Multi Stage Boost Controller, and a T-80 R- trim.
So I think i will sell the TurboTech kit after i make the Jigs up, and go with the Innotative stuff.

U-LUZE

Do you plan on ordering direct from Innovative? or were you going to order through a sponsor? I was wondering if any of the sponsors are Innovative dealers, because if not, i got a guy that's hooking me up, i'm ordering a few parts through him, and he is very fair on pricing, if you would email me a list, i could get you prices on the stuff you need. I was actually looking at getting the Q-trim T-76, water cooled, dual ball-bearing turbo for my car, they said it would support 800, which would be perfect for me. If you give me a call tomorrow, between 11 am and about 5 pm e.s.t., i could have him get you a price.

I just got an e-mail back from Turbo Tech. Their T-76 kit has a log with 2" primaries and larger collector. The kit has larger intercooler, ducting, and compressor inlet duct. This sounds better to me. They have been making improvements and the price has gone up alittle.

The 2"primarys seem awefully large. Too large i would think. The log on the kit is 2"ID I think the size on my turbo tech log primarys is 1 5/8. Which is chokeing the exhaust down big time. When i was down at Total Engine Airflow putting the heads back on my new short block we measured out the ports with a caliper and then mesured the 90*'s i plan on useing for the new log the they were just a hair larger perfect for the job. I just dont know what size pipe to use for the log its self for the T-80? Should i go with a 2 1/4 Id log or go up to a 2 1/2 now?

Jason is the guy ur getting parts from a dealer?

if you can get the 2.5" id log to fit id use that. Alot of LT1 guys talk about how increasing the size of the log realy helps. dont know how big is to big though.
