You answered your own question. Stock cam means better down low response.

For the guys talking about area under the curve, the rear mounted setup do not have as much as a front mounted most of the time. I can't see his graph but it probably looks similar to mine. It can be made a little better by playing with the a/r of the turbine housing. It's still a hell of a lot of fun though. I can't wait until my car is back up and running (waiting on my th400).

I also feel doing a large cam with most forced induction is bad idea. My car currently has a 224/224/112 .561 cam. I feel this is hurting me more than helping. I'm switching to a z06 cam on my new 370.

No one is saying not to do them or ...yadda..yadds. But when a 346 or bigger V8 engine has a dyno curve of a Supra, then what do you expect people to say? We deal with rear mount kits ALOT, and have a few improvements we are working on for customers. Most of them realize the facts, and are here to learn and make their setups better not just agree with the crowds.

Good post. I like to step away from the bandwaggoners too. Im not a huge fan of STS kits and many know that. They make good dyno numbers. But most of the curve and track times are less then stellar to me.

This car is now seriously traction plagued, turbo spool time is very quick, I am indeed totally amazed. We plan on taking this SS to our local 1/4 mile track next Wednesday, as long as the weather cooperates. Bob
what tire pressure are you running? my little low compression 383 was only running 14's in the 1/4 (4000 alt.), and was spinning all the way through 3rd gear on the streets at 30psi in the M/T's. dropped tire pressure to 20psi and spit out the driveshaft in 3 pieces. put a steel driveshaft in and tried to launch at 20psi, and destroyed the spider gears. those tires should hook, just drop the pressure a little.

Bob or Brent, I guess everything worked out with getting the boost higher and the BOV. I'm glad everything worked out.

I agree too, my cam is way too big even for the last FI kit I had on the car. I got caught up in the big cam craze that was going on about a year ago

I'm going to stab my 98 cam back in there by spring(kinda sick of working on the car already), probably make more hp/tq than with the stock cam and it'll be much easier to tune

Just pick up a 02+ z06 cam, not too hard to find and way cheap. Paid $60 for mine with about 5k miles on it. It's my #1 cam choice for n/a and FI. Very easy to tune, great drivability, good gas milage. I don't like my current cam very much but the car came with it pre installed.

A 67 on a 427 is a horrible idea. You need a t76 minimum.

Do you mean a .60 trim or a 60-1 when you say 60 trim, completely different turbos.

If you are free revving with zero load and getting boost, get that turbo off the car before you blow something...lol. That is WAY to small for that 427. Hurry up and get that 67 on.

Right on with the cam. We have had customer with good sucess with the Z06. Its not the BEST, but crap you can't beat less then 100 bucks for a used Z06 cam.

If I was building a boosted LS1 for myself, the Z06 cam would be in it. For the price, its hard to pass up. As well for the stock crank, and 6.0L heads and I would be happy with a 1000hp setup.

Get out of my head!

$500 6.0 block
free with block Stock crank already machined
$400 6.0 heads
$200 used diamond 4.030 pistons (1k miles)
$60 Z06 cam

all I need is rods, gaskets, studs and the block machined and i have a nice forged 370. Been collecting parts for 4 months. Ford 9" and the Th400 took precidence since the stock motor has been holding up good so far.
