does a gt47(88mm) really spool faster than a pt88?

I think we also now know the torque limits of a stock GM truck driveshaft and u-joint.

The GT47-88 will spool up another 200-300 rpm sooner if the anti surge housing is replaced with a standard type compressor housing. We make an insert that will fit in the compressor housing. There have been no surge issue on a 3.0L motor, so I would safely venture to say that any bigger motors will not have surge issues at all. I picked up 20 RWHP also.
