Do a search on Holset turbos, they talk about that in those threads.

Big difference.. Most diesel turbos are internally wastegated and have smaller exhaust housing to produce more boost..Some of the high HP diesel turbos have bigger housings, but then again in comparison to gas turbos, smaller housings..
If you are wondering if a diesel turbo will work on your gasser- the answer is maybe, however it wont be efficient and you will probably surge the turbo before you make any decent power..

An off the shelve GT42 is a Garrett replacement for a cummins 10L or 12L diesel if memory serves.

Yes, all your turbos come from diesels.

The GT42's are off the Detriot Diesel S60 6L engines. The big stuff like the TV chassis units are from your 8V92's, 12V92's, 16V's, ...etc...etc.

The units worth using for our cars typically come with big A/R's. Anywhere from .80's to 2.0 A/R's.

Ah, yes, I forgot about the GT42.. In the diesel industry, its actually the GTA42 (i dunno why) but they are on the smaller 12.7L Detroit S60's

For diesels they are named both. Just depends on what app. they are used in. Most of the DD engines are GTA units, the DAF's, Scania's, Cat's..etc use the GT name plate.

JZ...I was just on your site. I saw the master power T70 turbo. It was rated at 850hp and at $629. Do you think this will work for what I want to do? I want at least 650 to the wheels to start with until I pop the motor.

Thanks, Andy
