Default How much boost?

Hey guys. Long story short I have a Pham speed gt42 turbo setup. The car I bought it for I ended up taking back to the dealership. No real lose though. I now have a 408 stroker running 11.1 compresion. All forged internals. cam is 596/610 on a 114+4. Patriot stage 3 heads. The turbo system is the header type. No log. I know this compresion is not optimal. But I now Have a god damn 4k paper weight in my garage. And by god I am going to find a way to use it! So what boost could I use safely until I replace the heads?

You should be able to run 6 to 7 psi with a good tune, and a large intercooler. You could experiment with methanol injection, and you might be able to get a little more boost out of it. Bob

Really? I have a huge intercooler. And Ed Wright is my tuner. My car has a nitrous setup on it with a stand alone fuel system. it is activated at WOT. So I could possibly turn the system on use the stand alone by itself for higher octane fuel. Now would like a 50 shot add intercooling properiets to it? or is that too much?

not enough, what size combustion chamber do your heads have? are your pistons flat top? you should look into getting some 6.0L heads to lower your compression.

if you do run boost on it use high octane, cut back your timing alot
dont get greedy with the boost or youll end up with more paper weights6.0 heads are cheap, especialy when you consider you might junk your motor, gaskets can drop it a few compression points as well (maybe .3 ?) just do an CR calculator online and find out what what changes to the engine will do and evaluate which ones you can afford

Hey thanks alot guys. I will research. This is the beginning of it.LOL. The pistons are flat tops with 2cc recess. On this current setup I don't want to run gobbs of boost. I would like to keep it streetable. Do you guys agree with 6 to 7 lbs?

I would def. say that you could run some boost, but if you go ahead and get some nice 6L heads you'll be able to run alot more. I'm sure you could sell your current heads for some nice ported 6L heads too, probably come out even.

everyone is right i'd look for 6.0 heads, but anyways with your c.r. and 6psi you will be making really good power, fwiw more psi doesnt always equal more power.

thanks again guys. now to see what 6lbs with a base of 5xx horse power will net me. I will look into those 6.0 heads within the year. My sanity cannot handle another project with the way my wife is raising hell on me. Why must they always hate.LOL!
