Default At what point do you need an LS6 PCV system?

Now that my motor is all apart, I am wondering if I should pick up an LS6 valley cover and convert my existing system to the LS6 PCV system... however I really don't want to do it unless I will need it. Is the LS6 system that much better than the LS1 system?

I just got lucky and with my new block I ordered it was a LS6. Then I pulled a engine from a Z06 and replaced it with a TSP LS2 402 so I kept the LS6 valley and just put a catch can on it with a check valve back to the intake and a breather on the valve cover. If this doesnt work I will just modify my stock valve covers and do what Kyle did.

What one??

oh ok ill explain....

I WAS going to go with a Moroso catchcan/breather but i would need to weld on two -10 an fittings.... so the price for it went thru the roof....
That catch can is on the people's site....... alot of people on TurboMustangs are using it.....
it has two 3/8npt fittings already.....
so im using 3/8npt to -10an fittings.....
then -10an 90's with braided line.

The Valve covers are from Nasty Performance.... give Nate a call..... i added the -10an fittings on them.

If ya want the $$ then PM because the catch-can is not a sponsor.

Any particular reason you aren't just going with the single breather on the driver's side. Just wondering why you need a catch can and a breather and running from both valve covers.

Im ditching the stock PCV all togeather and im wanting a catchcan to catch any oil if there is any..... and the reason out of both valve covers is the same reaon GM did it out of Both.... equal distarbution.....
Its the Way Stenod has told me to do it and many other people.

it just changes where the vent is..in the valley vs in the valvecovers.

all you gain by not having the ls6 cover is maybe not having to empty as much oil out of your catch can.... 'performance' is the same.

So if you have the LS6 valley cover do you need any valve cover vents or just one? I have the LS6 valley and one vent to the pass side valve cover with the drivers plugged. That is how all the LS6 style engines are from the factory I believe. Anyway, it works great...

Good question.. Ive seen people hook them up a few different ways.

Currently I have mine where the pass side front vent is into a T where it also hooks into the LS6 valley cover... the other end of the T goes to the AMW catch can. Basically the driver side vent is still there, not capped.
Does anyone else do it like this? Or should I cap my driver side?

Anyone have a part number for the ls6 valley cover? Is this all that is needed, just the ls6 valley cover to convert it?
I am using a LS6 block, so I wont have to do any grinding..
