I'm ttt-ing myself here to get some input on this question... I'm sure the answer would benefit many:
1. IF my set-up now remains very cool and keeps the temps in check, would changing the block, heads, and cam upset the balance somehow? Could something change with the water temps?
2. Also, has anyone here run a 346/347 with a 76GTS? I'd like some thoughts about its powerband... what it's like, what rpm to spin the motor, etc. Thanks.

1- Would not think those changes would change coolant temps, unless you put some iron heads or something drastically different like that on.
2- Doesnt hi-flo use the 76GTS? Might ask Smearin how his car drives.

Stock PCM, too?
I'm going to try to look it up with a search. Thanks.
Edit: Okay, I looked up your set-up and saw that you're running a very low CR for a 346, 8.1. How does it drive not under boost? How's that CR for a weekend cruiser? Also, what computer? That car's badass!

I run the stock 99+ pcm and tune it myself with EFILIVE. The car makes huge power even off boost. I have no lag and can still spin my 315/35/17" drag radials over from a dead punch off a stop light. It is an awesome street combo. The car makes insane power for a pumgas only street car. I would not change anything if I could do it over.

Without a doubt! I wouldn't change anyhting either! I would expect some to say something about 8.1 CR being too low and being a bit sluggish off of boost... But it's good to hear this firsthand account... Says a hell of alot about the stock computer, too. Thanks for the post, man. I feel so much better about what I'm gonna do.

I'm ttt'ing myself to update those who are interested and to leave this open for advice/feedback/ideas.
I just purchased Wickedred's, a user here, fully assembled 8.5 CR 346 LS1 motor with zero miles. He was unable to finish his project and I jumped on it due to the deal I got. I was looking at REALLY high prices for shortblocks relative to his motor. I trust I made the right choice. It's assembled from top to bottom, studded, 6.0 aluminum heads, even Aeromotive fuel rails. I will find out what it will do with my stock PCM and a T-76GTS. My wastegate is tired of wasting air.
Any ideas? The motor has an LS6 cam that I will swap with a custom grind... I'm leaving the custom grind in Revxtreme's hands. I do want a little chop that the LS6 won't give me. I look forward to sharing my experience... Stock motor has not blown yet, surprisingly and oddly. I definitely give it hell now.
CLUTCHES: Any word about those prototype SPEC's that were both twin-disk and used the stock master/slave cylinder? Anybody heard something? I don't think my SPEC 3, which has been great now, will be up to the task.
