Default Why do you have to lose A/C on a TT setup?

Is it only b/c of the location of the compressor, or is there more to it that I'm not seeing? I came across an A/C compressor relocation bracket that used to be made by Newman Car Creations (unfortunately, it's no longer available) for retrofitting LS1s in older cars. Now, I'm not sure if the compressor would clear the strut perch in our cars, but one way or another I think I could fab something up that'd work. Getting new A/C lines is no big deal, so if you can move the compressor, is there something else that will cause problems? I know you'll have to move the alternator as well, but push comes to shove if I can't find anywhere else to put it bye-bye power steering pump. I'll take A/C over power steering any day of the week.

WEll you also have to look at the fact that on most setups the alternator has to be relocated to where the AC compressor is which means the AC has to go...See where that setup is mounted right now?? that's where the alternator has to go to clear for the turbo, piping and whatever else has to go in place of the alternator...

WORD!!! Being a fatboy and in the South I would rather do without P/S than the A/C any day as well. I am sure it isn't too bad on the yankee boys but those of us here in this sauna called the South have to have our cold air!!! LOL

Right, which is why I'd either find a way to mount the alternator above the power steering pump (driver side), or do away w/ the power steering pump all together and put the alternator in its place. But, I just realized that the A/C belt is a 4-rib, while the main serpentine belt is a 6-rib It looks like the water pump would obstruct the 4-rib portion of the crank pulley, so you'd be forced to find a way to make a 6-rib work w/ the compressor. Hmmmm...

I don't have AC or PS, and I could have kept AC with my setup but eventually I want to put a dry sump there

Oh I'm not saying that it can't be done but if you run very big of a turbo then you'll be hard pressed to not do it the way that most people don't...

If you put one turbo where the battery is and the other where the fuse boxes are it could be done pretty easily. Just run headers like all the single turbo companies run and pipe it to where the turbos are. Might have to relocate the alternator but it could be done.

The stock scavenge pump that came with the Incon kit was garbage. Also, there was a strong need to run a reducer to keep the pressure to the feed side down. The Tilton pump that came with the Incon's was simply an inferior pump. Guys running the Puisi and Weldon 9200-A pumps haven't had any problems.

Back on topic though...that is a nice looking bracket setup, I would love to put A/C back on the car when everything else is finsihed. Too bad that nobody makes that bracket anymore.

id like to see that bracket with the compressor on it. hard to tell if it would clear the shock towers,
anything is possible with enough work, time or money.
i think the best bet is getting an aftermarket compressor, they come in different pully sizes where you could use a 6 rib one so you dont need the other belt that wouldnt make it past any water pump.
i hope to do it soon, maybe next year, but i need money for a compressor and lines.

Well, not many kits have put them back down there... not many kits keep ac either. Good scavenge pump= no problems.

The CAS kits allow you to keep the AC. Hi-Flows twin setup there in the process of building is supposed to allow AC as well.

That's what they were using when the bracket was still available.

I wonder if they would make another batch of those adapters if we showed them there was an interest? I'm down for one, I like it better than the S&P kit, looks more factory.
