Default Fmic??

I am trying to find some info on how people are getting air to their FMIC with a 93-97 firebird nose? I dont want to cut up the bumper, but without cutting it doesnt look like it will get enough air. Thanks

I think you'd have to end up using ATI's twin setup...

We did have a pic of an LT1 nose we cut, but you dont want to do that.
I agree with Westside, you dont have very many options except ATI's set up.
The nose of the LT1 is a little longer, you may have room to put a big single at a slight angle and make some sort of air damn. That may be cheaper and more efficient then the 2 smaller ATi intercoolers.

If you don't mind a little time and fabbing, a custom solution could work well for you. Something along the lines of say two side mounted intercoolers would work very well.

If airflow is a concern then simple ducting from the front fascia or undertray is always possible.

What about using a ram air hood and putting the intercooler where the airbox usually goes?

I remember someone talking about that a while back on camaroz28.com. But quite honestly, I can't see how that would allow for enough of cooling. The little openings (even if opened up) in the hood aren't big enough to provide adequate air flow to the intercooler in my opinion.

Cool. I bought the grill from Summit Racing. It came as a big sheet and I cut what I needed and used 3M body shop adhesive to lock the grill in place.

I had thought about this too and I guess this is where having the suncoast creations ws6 hood comes in handy. The opening to the nostrils is basically on the cieling of the hood whereas the OEM hoods would be like a garage door, lol sorry dont know how else to describe it. The suncoast hood would allow an intercooler setup like the turbo'd sti's (if i remember correctly) except the intercooler wouldnt be right on top of the engine. For the LT1's I like the setup in the pics above. Nicely done

Subaru owners sometimes call their TMIC's "innerheaters" due to the fact that the top of a blazing hot engine is not an ideal location for an intercooler.

trtturbo do you have any pictures of the nose you cut up. I have decided that is the only option cause i dont want to do the twin intercoolers.

Thats what I thought, but was thinking maybe it would be better with the suncoast hood as the intercooler wouldnt be on top of the engine like it is with the subarus. It would be where the airbox is.
