**FLAMESUIT ON**

First off... I am not taking anything away from the thought out listing of parts and advice in this thread....BUT, I dont think that the entire car bumper to bumper should be considered the "cost of forced induction"....I mean come on...We might as well start a "Cost of this hobby" thread and REALLY scare people off...

I UNDERSTAND why the rest of the car needs to be up to the power etc, and its worth noting for those that don't realize that, but that applies to all sorts of set-ups not just FI. I mean, one could easily argue that the "real cost of nitrous" can include the Forged Bottoms, Trannys and Clutches, Rear Ends, Chassis Mods, Fuel Systems, Electronic Controls Etc Etc Etc.... Its not just an FI concern when it comes to all those parts.... (I mean, its not like people can walk away going..wow, Im glad I read that, I guess Ill just spray my car and all those parts will be fine)

Carry on....

Default looking at forced induction prices.....

Seems like alot of money spent here...why not stick with a complete kit like the one from Edelbrock? Seems like the kit is complete and around 6k, with alot of help getting it done. Basically have a z06 from a ls3 motor when your done....or is it that this isn't enough power? This will be my plan when I attemp a forced induction system.

I have $20K in the motor, $10K in the turbo related stuff and over $10k in beefing up the driveline. There are still issues even when looking this far into the future. Turbos generate a lot of heat, so ceramic coating and wrapping the exhaust and wrapping all wires is a must. Much of the electronics associated with todays cars will need to be relocated, away from the turbos and exhaust. Heat shield everything. These all add up to more money...none of which was included in my prices I've listed here.
exactly, you need to factor in the driveline and suspension also

While Forced Induction can be very expensive you can also save alot by using used parts and shopping around for deals.

One good place to start is theturboforums.com

I was directed there by one of the members on here and there is a section on budget turbos that makes for a intresting read.

I just finished by build, cam, heads, header, intake, 92mm TBI. I now find myself not hooking up. So tires, wheels and a Strange 12 bolt rear end are next. This should get me out of the hole. But would like to try a prochager too. I am at 482 RWHP now and would like another 150 or so. Any suggestions.

Man this list has me a little worried about my planned setup, but really I'm going to be sticking to 4-5psi for quite some time. Picking up a bare bones used STS kit for $2000. Gonna spend another $5-600 on injectors and fuel pump (used), a-pillar, b/v gauge, A/F gauge, and call it a day for a little bit. Probably looking around $3000 for the time being. Tune is already paid for. The beautiful part about turbocharging seems to be you can have the power you want, when you want it. Some minor wastegate adjustments and away you go!
Realistically, at 4psi is there any high percentage chances of major failures before I can get new pushrods, timing chain, valve springs, and a clutch together and maybe bump it up to 7? Probably talking around 420-450rwhp from what I've seen other people at 4-5psi making.
