Victor Jr Manifold vs. LS6 intake
I was looking over my engine and was thinking the Victor Jr. manifold might look a little better than the LS6 intake. (in my car) I also like the idea that I can "tap" the manifold, for a cleaner look. (vac. lines) Besides heat soak, is there any other draw backs to using this manifold? How will it affect my lower end? I was thinking on a FI car it wouldnt make the big of a differance. Most of the cars I see here with the Victor Jr., are mostly race type vehicles. Anyone using this manifold on the street? If so, any regrets??
OBTW - I will be running a Comp cam with 224* duration and .580 lift with a 114 LSA.

I have never used it but was informed that it would work well on my TT setup. I would lose a little torque but in that setup it wouldn't be a big deal. I think it is the better intake for a FI setup but the only reason I didn't use it was hood clearance. Most of the big FI setups use this type or the GMPP intake.

You can gain alot of that torque back and exceed it if you work the intake and match the cam. Putting it on box stock with a mismatched cam will yield exactly the results you read about on here and that you posted.

wish they could adapt an edelbrock performer manifold to our car. i think a dual plane would work best.

I can understand NA cars loosing lower rpm tq. Dont the fact that its FI help get back that lower end tq.? I like the idea of better flow to all cylinders, but dont want to loose drivablity. This would have to be better than running a sheetmetal intake, wouldnt it??

If you have heads that outflow the intake (not hard to do) you'll pick up a good gain there. I have head of ported versions in the 380+ range.
Besides sheet metal intakes can be a pain, as they are usually prone to cracking after prolonged use. A casting has alot more wall to it, and less residual stress in the metal from it's construction/machining.
We are going to try one on my buddies Twin 42R 402 once the motor is broke in. I dont wanna push the motor much beyond 12-14 psi on the Fast 90/90. for fear of distribution issues at 160+ lbs/min.

I whould have some results here in a few weeks when my turbo comes back. was on a ls6/stock TB. Going to victor jr/Elbow stock TB. Only change will be going from tr6 plugs to the tr8's. same boost same tune. Will try 10 psi since that is what the last dyno was on.

i can tell you the. gmpp i am running now smoothed out my idle and cold starts much better than when i had the fast 90. but i will also give it up to rick @ synergy for getting it so smooth too. but he also stated that it runs smoother with this manifold

So far seems the Victor Jr. isnt such a bad idea. Do you think the cam is too small? I really dont want to run anything bigger. This is a street car, and I want it to be very streetable.

Im on a 382 with a 224/230, 0.581/0.591 on 115+4
With the intake and 85mmTB, the car feels more torquey, bu a lot of that could be down to the simple fact its getting more air, at smaller throttle openings than before with the bigger TB.
I dont believe outright power has made any big increases.
But the car does idle better, and generally drive much nicer than it did before. I did spend a little more time on that though when tuning.
