Default Lopey blower cams and heads

Hi guys, I know cam recommendations are brought up a lot, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good blower cam that has a little more lope to it. Most cams mentioned seem to be fairly mild which is understandable when running forced induction, but I would like one that has a little more sound to it. I'm running a 346 with a LS-6 intake, long tubes, catted Y, and TSP Rumbler cat back and a ProCharger D-1SC. Any reccomendations for heads or cam would be appreciated. The car is a daily driver in good weather only, but will be raced at the street leagal series quite a bit. It also has most suspension mods, 3:73's and a built tranny with converter. Thanks for the help.

I'm with you on this. My D-1SC will be going on the car very soon and I don't want to lose my lopey idle by going to a different cam. Right now I run a 230/224 111lsa cam, definitely not a blower cam by any means. I absolutely love the way my car sounds, and will probably run the D-1 with the 230 for long enough to tune it and see how it does. Depending on how it acts, I may have to change it. I think it will be interesting to see how it does, so it is staying in for a little while.

I'm running a G5x4 cam and considering a possible D1-sc in the future. I know it's not the best choice at all for a blower but who cares. Either way you are going to make some kinda power.

I used a 230/236 on 112 on my 346...

Personally, I hated how it idled/loped etc. But some would probably love it.

Still seemed to perform ok

G5xB is the way to go or the Comp Blower Cam that EPP carries. Both have pretty good lopey idles. Im going iwth the G5XB down the road. It sounds VERY similar to the G5x1, cause i too love the lopey idle.

Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it.
Bob, would I have to do any flycutting with that cam on the stock engine? I like that sound. Does anyone have sound clips of a G5XB? and would I have to flycut for that? I am going to be getting new heads soon (don't know which ones) and I can't afford to do the shortblock yet (hopefully this summer), that why I'm curious. Thanks again.

Question Great idea...

Choose a performance component, because it has a nice "lope" to it.....

Yeah. These 2 cams listed above make AWESOME power and have a nice lope. There both "Blower" cams which means there made for "blowers" which means they will make more power then a trex or ms4 cam.

346cid 5-8psi use 216/224 .585/.585 114+2, or 222/228 .585/.585 114+2 or 380cid+ use 232/236 .600/.600 114/115+2or+3. hopes this helps.

If I were you I would just go with either LG's or EPP's blower cam or get something custom ground. I want to run the D1-SC myself. I know my X4 cam is not a good choice, but I love the cam and will not pull it out until the motor goes. So if I were to build another engine now with a Procharger on it ,I would definately get something ground for a blower. You may as well do it right when you dig into it.

For a street car, why not? Sorry, but on LSX Forced Induction applications you can run whatever you want for a cam and make plenty of power. The guy who is installing my blower used to run a cam similar to the g5x3 with a NOVI 2000 before he uped the boost to 15psi and popped the shortblock. Made close to 700rwhp, and with 3600stall, 3.90 gears, built tranny, tranny brace, very capapble of nines with the right tires.

Big cams may not be "optimal" but will work fine none the less. Boost cures all ills.
