Default ? for STS guys

I'm new here, but have been reading up on this site for a few weeks. I am doing my first f-body build and have a simple ?, I hate asking the "what mods for what hp ?'s" but this isn't exactly one of those.

I have a Callies 383 9.0:1, fast 90mm intake, a custom Bauer turbo cam (getting ground now, no specs on it, but lifts should be upwards of .600, 114lsa), Dart 225 heads, Pacestter lt's, and FMIC. I had been considering just the base STS kit, but I want to make sure it can put down the numbers I want. Should I look to upgrade the turbo to help make ~650whp, or will it be capable of it on it's own?

TIA,

Adam

If it helps at all, I had to go with a T76 for my setup. If you get the base kit, the 60-1 will max out way below the #'s you're looking for.

The 67 would be done at that level. You could do the 70 and it will get you your 650.

With that "low" of compression and the bigger engine, I say go for a larger turbo. I'd hit up the 70 in case you wanted to upgrade down the road. According to EPP (I believe), the t-67 maxed out around 13.5 psi and they made 700rwhp with 9.0:1 compression...plus all the interal goodies that go with a nice engine rebuild/overhaul...

I have a 67 and hate to lose all the money in doing an upgrade. Ill probably stick with 600-650 hp for now. I may spray a little nitrous on top of the turbo tho.

At the 600-650hp levels what times are the sts's running? It seems they run a little slower than most 600hp cars..

Don't play around with the small turbos on that size motor. Go straight to a .81 T76 GTS, ditch the long tubes and put stock manifolds back on it and the car should run good.

Why such an extreme cam? Even with a T76 your shift point will be about 6000 rpms on that size motor. Stock cam or a z06 cam would be much nicer to drive.

Just trying to meet an initial goal of ~650whp with the ability to grow way past that in the future. It'll be easier if I want more power to upgrade the turbo, as opposed to a cam swap. And since this isn't a dd I am not too worried about streetablility with it.

What I have listed in my first post is my guesstimate of where I think it might be at based on what I wanted from the Bauer guys. I asked for decent manners but to take advantage of the heads, so it'll probably be a little smoother than that. I should have the exact specs on the cam very soon and I'll post them.

BTW I appreciate the input guys.

thats a smaller turbo in your sig.. is it a multidisc? If so I would assume you have a trans brake?

Your running stock ported and coated manifolds?

Has anyone tried shorty's or mids? Just rather have them if they will work well?

I'll assume by smaller multidic turbo you mean my converter. I don't think it has any discs since it's for a Th400. I do have a transbrake, I would not put a th400 in a car like this without one.
