help me call BS on this...
Guys, a friend at work forwarded this link to me. I find it hard to believe this is true, but I don't know enough about M3's to argue it. Anyone want to offer some insight?
Turbo M3
Notice this a front mount that doesn't make full boost until about 4800 rpm. And it's only on race gas. Something just seems fishy here.

whats so hard to believe about it???...im not sure about how much power a 100% stock ls1 makes with a turbo but i do know this....a 100% stock camaro 3.8 with a T70 can make 450-475rwhp....thats more then doubling the HP stock....so i dont see anything wrong with that thread??

Looks solid to me. 13.5 psi is a decent ammount of boost. It is pretty awesome the internals are holding up to that kind of beating. But I see no reason not to believe it.

My 346 LS1 made 653whp@10psi w/ a T76gts and heads/cam.
The BMW kit equates to 27whp per pound of boost....from a T67. Sounds a LITTLE fishy to me.

That kit has been in the making for awhile now. It's the real deal... I'm a BMW tech FWIW.
Going to be a quality kit for sure. It made around 500rwhp on 93 octane. It's also going to be retardedly expensive. Compared to a turbo kit in the LSX world anyways. But then again, most supercharging kits for the M3 are over 12k.
What year is your cousins M coupe/roadster?

I'd love to call BS on the kit too. But the fact is the S54 engine is a strong runner. They had their issues at first, but thats been resolved for a few years now.
The kits got everything they need to grasp 600rwhp. We'll see what happens when these kits hit the streets. This kit has been the talk of the M3 community for awhile now.

This kit is $16k!! But what I find so hard to believe is the amount of boost going through a stock engine. What's the compression ratio on these engines? It just seems to have some dyno tricks going on. If the pump gas kit makes 500 rwhp, why would they show results from a race gas setup. I know this happens with a llot of comanies, but it just seems like inflated #'s to me.

They are showing both numbers.....
Pump gas, and Race Gas.....
I think the race gas numbers, are just so they can push the motor farther and farther, to see how much the stock motor can really take. Kinda like the guys on here that are now making 700HP with stock long block LS2's running pump gas, and loads and loads of Meth. No real difference.
Love the M's
Looks like a great kit,
Solid Numbers!
Congrats,
EA

As EA said above, they have posted both pump, and race gas numbers.
Stock compression on an S54 is 11.5:1. They've got a ton of dyno time on the car, and it's still in one piece. They'll run it till it blows obviously...
It's $16k, because it's plug and play with the factory electronics. Pretty tough feat to accomplish.

I'm sure they are using race gas to show how much power the kit is capable of. I'm sure they would like to show people how much the kit is capable of. Who knows how long the stock internals will last but thats all part of testing and pushing the limit. Someone has to find out!

Pretty high stock CR's... if the engines' internals can take the boost, from an integrity standpoint, then obviously the hp numbers will be higher than what we're used to, i.e. LS1's with low CR's on pump... Looks believable to me...
If it looks like the numbers are too high for the boost/psi, maybe we just need to factor in the high CR?
About the $$$, the BMW tax on the performance market is absolutely disgusting. I wanted to do some bolt-ons/mild stuff to mine, but decided it'd be better spent on my TA.

Is the turbo market for e46 engines really that limited? That car has been around for years now, im surprised there arent more kits or custom setups out there.
Numbers seem pretty legit. The big factor will be how long the internals stand up to that kind of power. Theres a few LS1 guys running that kind of power on a stock car.
Im an M3 fan but i agree with bboyferal, they tax too much of their stuff. I have yet to see a nice tuner M3 around here or at least one that can go head to head with a stock/mild bolt-on ls1.
