Default Boost on 11.6:1 C/R

alright i have a slightly stupid question. I have recently been bitten by the turbo bug. i HAVE to have a turbo but i really dont want to swap out my pistons.

How much boost could i get by running on my forged 408 with a high C/R??? any ideas?

I would pose this question directly to your engine builder and your tuner.

You could probably run more than 5psi, but you would have to run race fuel with it all the time and no timing I would guess. Not sure though, but you can just buy a set of head's with bigger chamber's and run some thick head gasket's also to help lower the compression.IMOA

subscribing. with race gas how much boost can you run with that high of compression. and what would be the outcome, blown head gaskets?

If it was my setup i would run 10lbs of boost and the race gas and play with the timing, but I would not go over 10lbs.What is the stock compression like 10.5 or close to it,so it is not that far off of stock. That is what I would do if it was my car but I like the extreme of thing's anyway.

I'm going to say 6 pounds for over 100 horsepower again, don't do it, you won't make as much as with nitrous and it will be more prone to detonation...

How much boost at what octane will be an exercise of trial and error. You obviously will be much more limited, you will extract more power for a given air flow vs a low compression engine. If I had to guess, I would say 10psi on 118 with 15* or so of timing will net you very respectable results. Meth/water injection will help stabilize the mixture if you are picking up knock.

Be vewy vewy cafull and take it slow.

I was making 5-6psi on 11.6:1 on (mostly) 91 octane pump gas for a while before I got new heads. I just pulled the timing back a little and ran a little race gas for extra insurance. It ran great and pulled hard, and it was on the stock bottom end too with a 222/224 cam on a 114 LSA.

I'd buy some larger chambered heads to lower compression before I swapped pistons, seems like a lot less work...
