8# procharger even worth considering???
Its the most expensive but makes tons of power. Some of the guys that have used the kit i am getting are running around 11.4 @125
I ordered my kit a couple of weeks ago and it should be here in about a month. We should meet up again when I get it on and i will take you for a ride
Good luck with whatever you go with and if you have more specific questions feel free to contact me. A blower gives you more options, more to tune, and more to play with. it also gives you the ability to go beyond what a heads and cam setup will do.
Every really fast heads and cam car I know is using nitrous and serious weight reduction. Most blower/turbo cars have full interiors and are very streetable. With FI power is not the problem, longevity is. With a safe tune you can run an 8# procharger no problem. Keep in mind the safer your tune the less power you are seeing from your boost. Right now I have my timing retarded 10* at WOT and I'm seeing less knock now than when I was N/A. Granted I'm still in the early stages and trying to tweak the tune to see more power without detonation, but still my motor is running stronger and safer now than when it was N/A.
It's true low compression heads help tremendously. That's something I plan to do at the end of the season. Then I can up the psi a little, advance my timing, and still run on 93/94 octane.
I guess it all depends on where you want to get to and how extreme you want your car to be. A heads/cam/N2O/weight reduction setup is by far the cheapest route to get to the 10s. Some people want that power all the time, ie no N2O. Some people still want to take a date out in their car, ie no serious weight reduction.
FI is rarely the cheapest option but sometimes it's the best.
