Procharger guys. Come inside please!

Procharger guys. Come inside please!
Ok guys I have been getting alot of inconsistent information about going with a procharger. A local guy that I know had a D1 and he went through 3 head units in 2 years. Another guy was fighting to keep his belts from slipping all of the time.. I want some straight forward answers from guys who currently have a procharger setup. Do you have any major problems? Are you fighting belt slippage at high boost? Is the snout of the crank under great amounts of pressure using a procharger? Is the setup reliable? I know I am not gonna just have a perfect running setup when trying to push 700+. I just bought the D1 kit along with a forged 370 from Weber Racing. I will be using a set of TEA stage 2 LS6 heads and the EPP blower cam. I have stock fuel lines with a racetronix pump and hot wire kit. I wanna try and get 550-600rwhp at first and then later on redo my fuel system and try to make 700-750.. Sorry this is long but I just want some concrete answers so maybe I can feel a little better about going the procharger route. Thanks guys. -Cody

So far in about a year or so I have spent 14k on my used DISC and now the motor is blown. After $12,000 it broke the alternater bracket and then dropped some more in it. This was with maybe 500 miles on the set-up. Now after maybe 100 more miles the car dropped a lifter and split the block taking out 2 pistons and the cam. I will have probably $20k on a procharger set-up that started with buying a used blower for $4k and upgrading it to a DISC for $1,500 and then more repairs and now a blown motor. I would now recomend it. Just spray the car or build a big stroker!

I have ~70K miles on my D1SC with no major problems. I would echo the comments above on the 8-rib belt and the metal plenum. I don't have any slippage problems on my 8-rib setup, but I did blow up my plastic plenum. Other than that, I just change the engine and supercharger oil and put gas in my car. Enjoy your setup!

i never hear of head units going bad. I have a buddie with 45k on his D1SC with leakey seals and all. THe thing still runs great. Your friend was doing somthing wrong. I would liek to see his setup, post some pics!. Belt slipping is a easy fix. Just get the EPP or SDCE belt package......... You will need Way more fuel. That pump is only good for about 500rwhp. Mine maxed out at 480rwhp on a dyno jet before SEA correction. You would want to buy a full fuel setup. I been looking for some i hear ls1speed makes a nice one but i cant find it. And the snout of the crank will have to be pinned. Its easy to do and cost about 100 bucks. Heads i dont know much about heads but i do know with forced induction you want a "thick deck" The best heads i found for FI is some AFRs. They use their own casting. Anything after 600rwhp is worthless. Fun but worthless. Hella fun. When i do my motor here in a few years ill be shooting for 700rwhp. I would love to do a 402.

Oh I am definitely investing into the 8 rib setup thats for sure.. I think while the motor is out I might just save up for a fuel system and do the dual walbros with a -8 feed and use the evap line for a return. Do you think that would be good enough to support over 700rwhp? You can pin the crank while the motor is in the car right?

Check out this C5 with a D-1SC that is run hard on a 2.5 mile roadcourse twice a week from Spring to Fall for two hour sessions.

This car has not encountered very many problems at all, and sees more wide open throttle time in one two hour session than some cars do in a lifetime. Bob

Mine worked great, just makes too much power for the stock block lol. It got me about ten low 10 second passes before the engine blew and that was my fault for spinning it to 7250rpms. Since you already have a strong block, the D1 should make for a real strong set-up.

Any issues I've ever had were based on ignorance. Yeah I had belt slip ... corrected that. Head units going bad?????? I guess they could fail at some point based on how you care for and run her... other than that, never seen 1 give up the ghost. I'm runnin a F1R on 408 cubes, 8 rib. It's brutal... just like I wanted. Stick with Bob (EPP) and you will be very satisfied with your procharger setup..... remember this..... if there is a weak link 2 b found ..... the blower will find it

cody, you should sell your blower to a friend OR it IS that time of the year for giving, you could follow the holiday spirit and make one of your friends very happy! THen you would not need to worry with pulleys and belts and all of that nonsense!
