Converter suggestions..D1SC,228/234 cam?
I am currently running a YankTT3000 in my truck. Converter is too tight and does not flash high enough to take full advantage of the procharger/cam combo. It's a D1 with a FMS 228/234 cam in a 6.0 engine and 3.73 gears. I'm looking for something that will still be good and streetable and work well with this combination. Any suggestions?

I can only assume there have been no responses because the vehicle in question is a truck. Seems to be a trend here whenever a truck post for help or information. I know there is a wealth of knowledge over here and that is why I made the post. Just looking for a little input from people that have WAY more know how than myself about these things.
Just for those wondering.....this "truck" made 640rwhp on PUMP GAS with no help from meth injection. So, whatever your stereotype is about trucks, get over it.
Nice to know you can come over to LS1 "tech" and get advice and help from fellow enthusiest.
Have a great day guys

Well as a truck (being heavier) you're gonna need a higher stall than a fbody would. Sounds like you're making alot of power, you may want to look into Yank's blower/nitrous converters. The blower converter will be tighter but it's designed to work with greater power/spikes like nitrous and blowers provide. Look into SC3000 or something like that.
I don't really get how come a 3000 can be too tight with 640rwhp. You should almost be blowing through that converter with the power you're making considering it's a "cheaper" Yank converter.
Call up Yank and talk to them. Dave Myers will help you with anything you need.

Thanks for the reply. My setup doesnt really make much down low. It really comes on mid-top so i'm guessing thats why this converter seems too tight. I was thinking something that will flash to around 36-3800 would be just right??? I'm not very converter savy,if its called a sc3000 would it only flash to 3000 or go higher? My only experiance is with the one i'm running now.

Yank's PY3400 Extreme or their PY3600 Extreme might be what you are looking for. Those convertors are designed for FI. They can also do custom stalls if you so choose. The PY3400E has a high STR of 2.7, so it's a pretty tight convertor. The PY3600E has a little bit less STR, so that along with the higher stall may make it feel a little less street friendly. Call and ask for Mike or Dave. Plus, their convertors are still on sale until the end of the year.
Also, the Vig 3200 (true stall of around 3600 I think) triple disc would be a good choice as well. Or, for a truck application, the 5 disc may be better.
Good luck.

The higher the STR the harder it will pull down low and vice versa.
I had a SS3600 Yank with a 2.5 STR in my SS and i ran kick *** 1/8th mile times but it would fall off up top by the 1/4.
Seriously though call up Dave and he'll guide you to what you need.

Do you do any towing at all? Are you locking up the converter at the track? Where did the combo peak on the dyno both HP/TQ?
Mike would be able to help you out but I think a 3400-3600 stall with 2.5-2.7STR would be your best best unless you really want to get aggressive. If you want really aggressive but still have decent street manners the SS3800-4000 are great

I'm sure am asking for too much, but would like a converter that hits hard and still pulls on the big end. Here is the dyno graph with the converter locked and unlocked. Have not tried locking the converter at the track.

I'd call up Dave @ Yank and see what he says, but I'd be running a 4000 stall for a heavy ride that I wanted to have run good at the track. I don't the idea of manually locking converters it's hard on the parts and when you lock converters too early you are putting a lot of stress on the converter.
You pretty much know that a 5000 stall would be vicious, but it would drive bad. So I'd go 4000 or a bit smaller.
