what kinda timing you boosted lt1's running?

They do like timing. I found over 25hp with every 2 degrees from 22-28 deg. It is better not to go too high, especially if you have a stock bottom end. I would stay at or below 30 on a forged motor & probably below 26 on a stock bottom end for safety. Be careful, pistons & head gaskets are only a keystroke away.

yeah i thought i had posted the boost level i plan on running 5 lbs for now till i can upgrade to a better fuel system.i was thinking maybe 20 degrees to start with, this sound too low?oh yeah can everybody post there boost levels with there timing setup please

I have an LS1 computer on my Procharged 383 LT4 an I have been looking at timing for LSX cars with similiar setups and many of them run between 15-20 degrees timing.
My setup is an 9.1CR 383 15psi intercooled (115 Iat's without meth) and I have the largest dual nozzle setup from AIS meth (100%) according to you guys I may be able to approach 30 degrees timing??
Also should this timing be at max tq or at Max Rpm?

Each setup is different but a s a general rule LT's seem to accept more timing.
I have a rearmount, with intercooler and meth and run as high as 30 degrees with 14 psi. On my drag car running meth with similiar boost I run <26 and that is with 110 (93 with rearmount).
So I don't think there is a right answer except to say start conservative and add timing slowly...

LSx is a totally different animal. The chamber shape is way better, so they require less timing to make max power.
For LTx, the timing requirement doesn't change much with boost. My experience has been that if it makes peak NA power at 36 deg, then that's where it will make peak boosted power. You'd have to run enough Meth to stave off detonation though.

THanks for posting guys, seems like I kept seeing LSX engines run high teens with timing and I thought we usually run mid 20- low 30's at WOT. You guys have any files I could look at??
The thing I am seeing as the timing on the LSX computer is Spark vs RPM Vs cylinder airmass (grams/cyl) and tunercats uses spark VS RPM VS Map (KPA) I don' know how to convert that??

I got your PM. I do have some old files, but didn't keep good track of what was what. I probably have 40 or so files with different stuff in them. Also, mine was a 2 bar SD tune with O2's disabled, plus I used Methanol for some of the fuel and on top of that a Crane HI 6 TR to pull the timing down. I have no idea what timing I was running, but it seemed to run good.

Considering how much timing we run at WOT, would extra timing at idle and part throttle be higher compared to a LSX engine? I believe I seen some LT1 cammed guys running around 35 degrees at idle, where as most LSx engines I have seen are around 25?
