it should read....

A higher gear will HELP you once turbocharged. Lower gear ratios = decreased load on the engine ( due to simple mechanical physics) which equals LESS exhuast energy to drive the turbine. Running a low gear ratio on a turbo car will spool the turbine SLOWER and result in boost LATER in the rpm range.

BTW, A lower gear ratio = a higher gear number....3.23's are higher the 4.10's, so the lower gear ration is 4.10. Less gear does equal less lag, but do not confuse gear ratio with gear number. A high gear is 3.00 and a low gear is 4.10.....as an example.
Never heard it explained that way....but we're on the same sheet of music.....

Black_Hawk_02....install looks like it's going nice. Only thing I noted is that you should reposition those 2x T-bolt clamps from the turbine cold-side exit. Put them flush to the gound, or even angled up. The current orientation is giving up a good 1/2" of gound clearance.

Hey I know your not finished with the kit entirely but that piping looks to be pretty low...I'm tellin you man, it makes a world of difference to fab the piping yourself. Its not even all that expensive, it just takes patience. I see your gonna be running a M6. The rear mounts are quite a bit more laggy than a4's but I would put a small a/r housing on it. At LEAST a .81. Takes 5 minutes to switch it out. Here are some pics of mine so you can get an idea. O yea, that wiring harness is a *****!

Heres what ive done the past few days...

1)Installed the Gauge Pod and gauges, still need to hook up the signal wires. (Need to find wiring diagram)
2)Made a switch panel, two switches with indicator lights. One for Oil pump and one for line lock. (post pics later)
3)Hooked up the return line to the Oil Fill Cap. and the pressure lines.

Now to my problem... I started the car... and had oil dripping for the turbo.

Now either my seals are bad... in which case im pissed. and matt from az sold me a **** turbo.

Or my return line is messed up some how...

My first question is... Should the return line from the turbo go over.. or under the axle..?

Would it being routed over the axle stop flow...?

Please any help... I haven't really spent much time trying to figure it out yet. But it seems that my turbo is ****... and my night is ruined...

I was hoping to get this turbo in tonight... and do valve springs. and fuel pump tomorrow and then go get it tuned on monday, sept 15. my birthday...

This really throws a wrench in the gears... or turbo...

thanks for the diss.

I didn't sell you a piece of ****. I suggested running the line to the pan. sounds like your wiring to the pump is messed up.

that turbo is way to low, trust me your going scrap that brass fitting on ****. that turbo needs to be clocked upwards more.

I know your just upset from the set backs but please don't drag my name through the dirt like that. I NEVER have and NEVER will sell anything broken to another car enthusiast. I called and left you 2 messages asking you to please let me know when everything should up. you never returned my calls, and I told you if you had any problems to please call me.

I was affraid of something getting damnaged, hence why I put almost 3000 worth of insurance on the 4-5 boxes I sent you.

I belive your pump is not on, when you turn the key to the acc. postion do you here that thing running?

if you want to talk about it please call, I will gladly discuss anything you want. but please don't put me down until you pick up the phone and talk to me.

thanks
matt

small set backs are not the end of the world...you can have 60 pieces
when it's taken apart, but need 70 pieces to go back together.
these sts kits should be done by a sts sponsered tune shop.
every1 i hear who does them on there back,(garage mechanics)
always runs into these same oiling issues.

well if it's not able to get to the engine it has to go somewere and it will come out the seals. that doesn't mean the turbo is bad, maybe the pump got messed up during the 4000+ mile trip to your moms and back to FL . it's a pain in the *** but tap the pan. better yet get a fitting welded in to the pan . it will save you big time hassle in the long run. plus the line going up hill seemed to make things worse. after it went to the pan it was much better in the sense that I was not smoking through the dp.
