Default I finally got my new turbo!

Its a turbonetics 76mm with a .81 exhaust housing, for my rear mount.
It is pretty big compared to my 67mm turbo.

Well after installing it and running it for awhile I ran into some issues. Since this turbo is abit bigger there is even less ground clearance than before and it drug the road a little and put a hole in the compressor outlet coupler already just put a brand new one on there too. Some how the exhaust pipe that feeds the turbo is sagging more than with the old turbo. I will try to bend it up some with a tranny jack somehow. I think I am going to have to rig up some hanger for the turbo itself.

My y pipe came off the driver side header as well. There is just a band clamp there and I guess it was not tight enough, because as soon as I switched the boost controller on it poped the y out. No big deal but just frustrating not 2 hours after install and maybe 20 miles.

Any suggestions? I am starting to want a front mount more and more, but just dont have the cash at this point, especially after the new turbo.

That turbo is pretty big. How come you switched turbos. Did the car make 500whp with the smaller turbo.

It felt pretty good. Just think it needs to break in a little cause it should spool faster than it does with the .81. I still need to wrap the exhaust again though. Going to try to fab up a bracket or hanger today.

Well I switched turbos because the old one got trashed by something going through the exhaust side, most likely welding slag from a different y I had put in.

The car made 500whp @ 7psi with a cracked y pipe and 550whp @ 10psi through a stalled auto and 10bolt.

Thats considered the smallest frame turbo for a 76 . You definetly need the wrap to keep the heat in, it should spool awsome after that . The tc 76 is also known to spool the fastest

Well went out to play and was dissapointed. The damn coupler that is right before the over axle pipe kept on comming off. Everytime I hid 3rd at 10psi it would pop off. Going to take a look at it tommarrow morning. Stupid clamps supplied with the sts kit suck. I am so saving money to do a front mount here in the next couple of months. Just one thing after another and always worried about the grand that sits 2inches from the damn ground when accelerating. xfenix999x you might be getting a call soon.

Sorry just tired off the unreliability with the sts kit.

If you use wom clamps for a ft mount they will pop off too .

This is how rear mounts get a bad wrap .

It is lowered with the kit that is suppose to drop it by 1 inch, but it dropped it too far, so I put some spacers in the spring to bring it up. I am going to find some stock springs and put them on for now though.

that over tha axle charge pipe is killing you..... i found it was much easier to adjust the turbo for ground clearance with a silicone hose going under the rear end instead of that 180* bend going over it

I agree, that's how I routed with the TA. I never seemed to have any issues. How's your rig running?
