New LSx 427" shortblock done, TFS 6-bolts or ET LS7 6-bolt heads
Cant decide whose 6-bolt heads to go with. i have a ported Ls2 intake /w 90mm throttle body already that would go right onto a set of Trickflow 235/245cc cathedral port heads but then I need yellaterra rockers (another $425)
So Trickflow route:
Trickflow heads $2500, YT Rockers $425
ET route
ET LS7 Heads $3500, LS7 rocker setup $200, LS7 Intake manifold $275
Looks like ill spend about $1000 give or take more on the ET setup....I'd rather stay with the cathedral port for the savings of costs, I think the ported ls2 intake with boost wont make much difference versus a fast 92 but I think ill test both on the dyno and upgrade to a ported fast 92 for the price difference later.
Well my budget motor build seems to endlessly cost more (thats too be expected)
I got the whole 427" LSx blocked shortblock done for approx $5000. Ive got a nice S-91 from Jose @ FI waiting for it.

The TFS heads can be shipped on monday to you from Summit.... IE in stock....
ETP...... a month... 2 months.... maybe 3.... Not a bad product or choice at all.... just depends on how much time u have and want to wait....
WCCH is another option for 6 bolt heads..... but by no means cheap.....$3400 for the bare heads.....

I went TFS.
From the time I ordered, to the time they shipped was one week. That included custom cutting me a set of valves.
You couldnt get ETP's in the same season, let alone the same month.
As far as flow goes, who gives a **** when your talking big F/I applications..
I wouldnt waste my money on ETP's.

The numbers in my sig (race car) are with TF 235's and HS's off the shelf at 27psi. You will get them within in a week or so. Enough said. Call Brian at Total Engine Airflow and he will take care of you. Tell him I sent you.

can some one explain to me this: the TFS heads flow somewhere in the range of 350 / 270 cfm on the intake/ exhaust at .600 while the ETP heads (ls1- 265 runner) flow 367/240 respectively , are we comparing apples to apples here or these numbers produced from different test methods?
and if they are , should i be looking for the head with the higher exhaust flow ( supercharger application) and not worry about the intake side?
and why do the tfs heads only go up to .600 lift only? is it a spring issue or does flow fall off after .600?? ( if it is a flow issue , what lift can they go up to?)

Well let me help you with your decision. Just try and get a set of ETP heads and you will find out with the issues they are going through at there company right now that it will take you a long time if ever to get those heads until they get things worked out etc... Its not looking good for them. TFS for the win IMO anyways GL!
