Default Gauge/ Tank/ Sender/ 98 vs 00 Question

Can I...

Run a 2000 sending unit in a 1998 steel tank, even if I am not using an intank fuel pump?

(And I don't want to talk about aftermarket tanks, I don't need a $700 tank for this car).

What is your goal and what are you trying to do John? Why a steel tank? I am pretty sure you can swap the sending unit or at least modify it to fit on the 98 basket.

Need to run fuel line for low pressure fuel system, need steel tank to tig weld in a bung.

I've heard I could run a high pressure intank setup and then drop the fuel pressure with a regulator, then I could use this other tank I picked up which is plastic. But can I take a high pressure pump and drop the fuel pressure to 7.5 psi?

just leave the 98 sender in place. It has the same resistance for the level.

Hey Lonnie, thanks a million for talking last night. You answered a bunch of questions that nobody seemed to know the answer to!

Based on our call, I'm looking for the tank, and once I secure that I'll get a hold of you to piece it all together.

Hey lonnie,

what is the fuel/empty resistance in the 98 sender? Is it the same for lt1 senders?

From memory they are approximately:
LT1 is 0-90
LS1 is 40-250
