Default Stock 02 WS6 poor gas mileage / injector tick

My wifes cars is an 02 / 61k A4 The only mods she has is a SLP lid and K&N filter, she also has a tune that lowers her fan temps to 197 to turn on. She has one injector that has a noticable tick over what is considered normal.

I have replaced the fuel filter added seafoam and then a prestone complete fuel system treatment, nothing. Added Bosch iridium plugs and Magnacore wires, nothing. New corvette rear O2's, nothing

we went on a trip the other day together in separate cars, she went 236 miles on a tank of gas as did I. it took .4 gallons more to fill my car than hers. We started same place same gas same driving speed to the next station and that was the result.

My car is forged, 230/600 .cam, heads, 42lb injectors and 3.55 gears. Why are they near identical I am out of options as to what I can check?

My car stock pulled 285 - 300 a tank of normal driving so I know it is possible.

Were those all highway miles?

I only get around 20 mpg in the city/45-55 mph zones mixed in (230-250 miles per tank) with 93 octane and I am completely stock at the moment except for a lid.

Come to think of it...its kind of funny. My old V6 sebring only got around 24 mpg on the same exact trips and it only put out 160hp, lol.

It was mixed highway and country road driving. My car when stock would get 285-300 on this trip, now her car is the same as my modded one on this trip(236). I just don't see one bad injector causing this much decline in fuel economy. I will change it to see.

The new 02's you put in, did they replace the 02's before or after the cats?

Ever find anything wrong, I'm in the same boat. My 99TA got easily 24 all day long, my 02 only gets 18 and its completely stock except the flowmaster muffler. It only has 78k on it and lately the mileage has dropped noticably. I'm wondering if they are putting more ethanol in fuel maybe? The car runs perfect, I'm gonna check a few things but i've gone over it before and found nothing. The oil doesn't get black quick so i don't think its running rich. I'm also sure it has the stock tune.

we offer a forum special $89 to service your injectors.if you can't be without the car being down we have an exchange program.clean free flowing injectors will always help fuel mileage.all that stuff you are poring into your tank is terrible for your injectors.

when you run these aditives it losens sediment in the tank and lines.this will clog up the filters in the injectors which can lead to injector failure.
